Bachelor Bro Week 2

This week's Unity Bachelor Bro Challenge is called Putting on the Glitz! By the time I was done with my card, I was head to toe Dazzling Diamonds. No joke, I found glitter inside my bra about 20 hours later. I can't wait to see where it shows up tomorrow!

I used Mercy's Tuesday Sketch to launch this card! Then I wanted to try to balance out all the glitter as Bro may not be so into the glitz! I don't know him, maybe he is totally into glitter. Something tells me not so much. We'll see. Anyway, I tried to balance the glitter with muted tones (soft suede and old olive) and a peaceful image. I have always associated bamboo with good luck, so I chose the sentiment "good things are coming your way" to finish off my card. I hope this is a bit of foreshadowing for me. Wish me luck!

Here are the specifics:

Stamps: Gratitude=Joy (Unity), Simply Said (Unity)
Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Thoroughly Modern dsp
Ink: Soft Suede, Old Olive, StazOn Timber Brown
Accessories: two way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Dimensionals, glue dots, linen thread, random buttons

All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise posted.

Sentiment by Winnie

I made this card for September's Viva La Verve Week 1. The twist here was to use "little round things", so I added some dew drops to my card that I colored with one of my Sharpies!
I have been itching to use this sentiment. It just seemed to me that I needed to use it with some softer colors, maybe because Winnie the Pooh is a children's character. Anyway, I think this card turned out very sweet!
I'm also quite proud of myself for combining patterned papers that were not made for each other. I am so rule-based that mixing up patterns is very difficult for me. All the patterns in a pack usually work well together, but these are from two different packs.

Here are the details for this card:

Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Going Gray, OA Ducks in a Row, OA Cherry Hill
Ink: Going Gray, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Basic Gray taffeta ribbon, dew drops, Turquoise Sharpie, stampin' dimensionals, glue dots, scallop template, paper snips

Some New Unity Fun

So Unity has come up with a super exciting new contest!!! It's called the Unity Bachelor Bro Challenge. It will run 7 weeks with great challenges and prizes. Unity does nothing that is small, so you will want to get in on this one!

The challenge this week was to make a date invitation card for your significant other or Bro. The catch was that you have to use Bro's favorite colors (Red, Green and Black). I made a card for my own hubby and plan to use it to request an actual date. Some couples have date nights, we don't. I would like to have that though.

I made my own collage here. I started with River Rock ink as I think it has a green tinge to it. I added Kiwi Kiss and then Old Olive on top of it. I tried to use manly types of images, thus the bottle and bar tab on top of the Retro Border background.

Here are the details for my card:

Stamps: Retro Background (Unity), Good Times (Unity), Sentiments O'Simple (Unity)
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss, Whisper White
Ink: River Rock, Kiwi Kiss, Old Olive, Basic Black
Accessories: MM black eyelets, crop-a-dile, red hemp twine, MM edge distresser, stampin' dimensionals, sponge dauber, Naturally serif die
Techniques: sponging, distressing

All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise posted.

Girl Time Saturday Night

I headed over to my girlfriend's house Saturday night armed with about 1/10th of my craft room in tow! Just kidding, but I did load up a large laundry basket with her requested items to play with. We had our children play while we made cards on the kitchen counter. We had a quick easy dinner for the kids and ourselves, pizza! We had ice cream for dessert and made some yummy cards! This card is for this week's Limelight Sketch Challenge!
This next one is Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I finally cut into my new Razzleberry Lemonade paper and had to use that luscious new In-Color, Rich Razzleberry. This was such a fun card to make and was a semi-case of a card in the SU catalog. The bottom half of my card was looking a little bare and my girlfriend suggested using my new embossing folder! Done, literally, the card was done after that!

Here are the details:

Monkey card:
Stamps: Cling Changito (Stampendous), Mix Up of Cuteness (Unity)
Paper: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey Bittersweet
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel
Accessories: Nestabilities, Heart to Heart punch, stampin' dimensionals

Flower card:

Stamps: Matchbox Messages, Pocket Silhouettes
Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Razzleberry Lemonade dsp
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Softe Suede, Old Olive
Accessories: Finial Press embossing folder, 1 1/4" circle punch, glue dots, stampin' dimensionals, paper snips

Some CAS, Some Not

Here are a couple of cards that I made for this month's Release week challenges for Verve Stamps. I was really only happy with these two, so I will only post these two. In all, there were five challenges. There was a sketch challenge (see below), two color challenges, a technique challenge and a supply challenge. This card is for the color challenge to include Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Dusty Durango and Taken with Teal.

This card was for the sketch challenge and I got into my Basic Grey Lemonade papers. I think, until now, I had just been hoarding them. Boy, I really like how this turned out. I wasn't sure about the black, but it really makes the other colors pop! The rest of the cards that I created for the challenge just didn't have that extra special feel. I'm pretty sure that was because I tried to crank them all out in two days.

I'll have to go back and fix up some of the other cards before I put them in my to-go basket! Stay tuned for more posts this weekend, I'm getting a little crafting time this afternoon and evening!! Woohoo!

Here are the details for each card:

Just Because:
Stamps: Fluttering By (Verve)
Paper: Whisper White, Taken With Teal, Razzleberry Lemonade dsp, Recollections Fall dp, ? SU dp in Old Olive
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 1" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch
Techniques: CAS

Birthday Butterfly:
Stamps: Fluttering By (Verve), Circular Sayings (Verve)
Paper: Basic Black, BG Lemonade
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Black grosgrain ribbon, M's self adhesive black pearls, stampin' dimensionals, Matchbox die

A week behind in CAS

Just as I take a week off from stamping, trying to sort out my feeling about the new edict from Stampin' Up!, I come up with an SU only card! Crazy...I tell you. I really like how this one turned out! I used a sketch from Stamps and Smiles, check it out here. I also incorporated this week's CAS challenge to Pop it Up! Whenever I use this leaf punch, I think of my bff. I know she really likes the punch and we made the most amazing fall card with it, years ago! This SU stuff has really got me down :(

Here are the details for my card:

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Whirly Twirly wheel
Paper: Kraft, Very Vanilla
Ink: Versamark, Creamy Caramel, More Mustard, Really Rust
Accessories: Vanilla taffeta ribbon, retired SU leaf punch, sponge dauber, small oval punch, large oval punch, glue dots, stampin' dimensionals
Techniques: sponging, CAS

All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise listed.

Friday, check! Friends, check! Flair, check (got my Unity)!

I was fortunate enough to get signed up in time this week for the Unity customer blog hop. I was super excited and of course, do you think my mojo was anywhere to be found. Maybe not this week! Perhaps it has something to do with the million things going on this week, not to mention my 20 year high school reunion that begins tonight!

Anyway…you came for the card, not my worries. This little baby came about via the Ways To Use It challenge, Revved up for Red. Where is the red? Yep, red is tough for me so I paired it with my favorite color purple! After I colored my image, I thought my image looked plain. So I took my trust Sakura Clear Star gel pen and jazzed up all the red, even the red mat.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Here are the specifics for my card:

Stamps: Folk Inspired
Paper: Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, Real Red
Ink: StazOn Jet Black, Real Red, Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive
Accessories: Red grosgrain ribbon, MS arch lattice punch, stampin’ dimensionals, white gel pen, Sakura Clear Star gel pen

All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise posted.

Another make-over

with some color! I combined Monday's CAS challenge on SCS and Tuesday's Color Challenge on SCS to create this card! I made the original card for a Limelight Papercraft sketch challenge, but changed the sketch for this card.

I bought the dimensional scrapbooking stickers because I felt like they really matched the new SU In-Colors. The colors for the color challenge this week are Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo. The sticker doesn't match the crushed curry as well as the Melon Mambo (and Rich Razzleberry, which isn't pictured here), but that is okay! I still like the make-over! Hope you do too!

Here are the details:

Paper: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Chit Chat rub-ons, white taffeta ribbon, scallop circle punch, stickers, white gel pen, 1 3/8" circle punch, corner rounder

All products are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise posted.

It's a Make Over!!!

This week's CAS challenge on SCS is to take any one of your own cards and make it over, obviously CAS style! I found a card that I made for a Unity Hip Hop Thursday challenge and decided to do this one over. I stuck to the same color scheme and basic design, but changed the layers, did faux stitching instead of actual stitching, and eliminated ribbon and buttons! I like this one much better!

It might look a little plain, but that is exactly where I went wrong last time. I thought my card looked to plain, so I kept adding to it. Most times, it is just better to keep it simple!

Here are the details:

Stamps: Hodge Podge of Happiness (Unity)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Going Gray
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: white ep, heat tool, white gel pen, M's pink self-adhesive rhinestones, stampin' dimensionals
Techniques: embossing, faux stitching, CAS
