Friends and Favorite Colors

Hey there!  It's been a bit since I posted on the old blog!  I'm back just in time for this week's Friends of Speedy TV challenge to use your favorite colors.  My favorite colors are purple and green.  I was immediately reminded of this particular pattern from Basic Grey's Wisteria line with fox gloves featured on it.  I knew I wanted to use it because of the colors and because I thought some of the Mark's Finest Papers Dragonflies would be a perfect compliment to it.  I nabbed a birthday sentiment from Hum Along and some foliage from Be Virtuous.  I sponged the edges of my sentiment circle and laid some ruffled ribbon beneath it.  The patterned papers are  laid upon some Mark's Finest Papers Favorite Natural card stock.  Love this card stock for it's tiny flecks of color in it.
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers a free stamp set for one lucky participant!  Be sure to check out today's samples from the others ladies on the team!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sorry folks, no tag today.  But I do have one banner-ific card for you!  I did a lot of stamping and even more coloring on this card!  I absolutely love the three sentiments in this set which have separated letters so that you can align them however you like.  Mark's Finest Papers has done this with a few sets and I find that I can create other sentiments with the letters.  It just adds that much more value to the stamp set!  By the time you are reading this, it is likely Friday and you might be ready to "PARTY"!

Enjoy the rest of the hop and your weekend!  Head off to Sue's blog to see how she finishes off this month's hop.

Did I mention yesterday that this tag image from Holiday Tag works with everything?  And did I mention how much I love it?  Okay, I don't know if it works with everything, but it sure works with What a Scream!  I stamped in some Halloween words and then over stamped and colored my kitty.  I applied some glitter to the edge of the tag and the outline of the kitty.  Some more black elastic threaded through another eyelet attaches my "glitter kitty" to her sparkling pencil.  Voila, a Halloween treat for a little someone special in your life!

Thanks for stopping by and head off to see what Sue has spinning today!

I just loved this set!  The ideas keep coming to me.  First, I wanted to keep to the "primitive" title with a one layer, clean and simple card.  I adore that tree and all it's tiny little leaves to color.  I scored a couple of lines at the top of my card and then stamped a couple of the birds from Scenic Selections to finish off my card.
Next up, a fun little tag I created.  I stamped the tag outline from Holiday Tag, again omitting the hole.  Then I masked around my tag and stamped in the tree, lamb and sentiment.  I colored my tree and added some grass.  I punched my own hole at my chosen spot and added an eyelet and some black elastic.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to head off to Sue's blog for the rest of the hop!

Scor-Pal and Authentique Gift Box

Hi, it's Toni here! It's my turn to share a Scor-Pal and Authentique project. We will have a wonderful week crafty goodness by both the Scor-Pal design team and the Authentique design team. I received some really beautiful papers and created a Lotion/Nail File gift box*.
For this project, you will need:
  • One 6 1/2" by 8" piece of card stock
  • Four 1 3/8" by 2 3/8" pieces of designer paper
  • Four 1 1/4" by 2 1/4" pieces of designer paper
  • One 1/2" by 6 1/2" piece of designer paper
  • Circle punches
  • Scissors
  • Silver cording
  • Ink
  • Sponge Dauber
  • Silver Glitter
  • Lotion
  • Nail File
Place the 6 1/2" x8" piece of card stock in the Scor-Buddy with the 6 1/2" side against the top fence.  Score at 2 1/2" and 4".
Rotate the card stock 90 degrees, so that the 8" side of the card stock is now against the top fence.  Score at 2 1/2", 4" and 6 1/2".
Trim out the top and bottom sections on the far left.  Then cut the remaining tabs from top and bottom to the 2 1/2" score lines.
Measure 1" from the top and bottom of card stock of the first and third tabs that remain.  Trim off the 1" sections as shown below.
Using a 1" circle punch, create a hole in the 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" tab on the far left.
Crease the remaining score lines.
Apply Scor-Tape as shown below.  Place Scor-Tape horizontally on the first set of top and bottom tabs.  Place Scor-Tape vertically on the second set of top and bottom tabs.
Assemble the gift box.  Remove adhesive backing from the second set of tabs first and fold in the back of the box.  Then remove adhesive backing from the tabs just folded in and adhere the front of the box.  The Lotion/Nail File gift box is now complete and reading for embellishment.
Sponge the edges of the  1/14/" by 2 1/4" designer paper with coordinating ink.  Then layer the 1 1/4" by 2 1/4" designer paper on top of the 1 3/8" by 2 3/8" patterned paper.  For this project, Authentique Natural Enhancements designer paper was used.  A strip measuring 1/2" by 6 1/2" was scored at every 1/4"  and then fan folded.  The two ends of the strip were adhered together and the center of the center was pressed down to create a rosette.  The sparkling center circle was created by first placing Scor-Tape on some card stock.  Use a circle punch to create a small circle.  Remove the backing and cover the Scor-Tape circle with silver glitter.  Adhere glitter circle to center of rosette.  The tag attached to the top of the box is a card stock sticker from the Authentique Natural Elements sheet.  Silver cording attaches the tag and is tied around the box beneath the rosette.
Finally, fill the embellished box with the hand lotion and nail file gift.  Some additional silver cording was tied around the hand lotion to tie it into the packaging a bit more.
Thanks for following along!

Here's the Design Team:
Now peace is what those sweet little kinders I am working with need.  We have a couple in school that have cried every day.  Several others keep asking when it is time to go home.  This is the first year in my district where kindergartners go all day with the rest of the elementary students!  I'll dedicate this card to them and maybe even bring it into class tomorrow!

I'll have to put my thinking cap on and see what I can make in honor of the first grade students I work with because they are just as special!

Don't forget to head over to Sue's blog to see what she has done with today's fabulous set!

Nature's Brushstrokes & Holiday Tag - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

I'm back with a look at this month's extra and mini sets!  This simple note card features the mini set called Nature's Brushstrokes and that gorgeous flower is irresistible.  I embossed and then water colored the flower.  It's a strong enough image to carry the whole card.

My gingerbread tag is made with the extra set this month called Holiday Tag.  I used the tag image and did some selective inking.  I only inked the outline of the tag in order to leave enough room for my gingerbread man.  I then punched my own hole and added an eyelet for my ribbons!
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come back later today for some more fun posts!

Friends and For Men

Good Monday morning!  It's going to be a busy week on the old blog.  I've been quiet for some time as I managed all my summer tasks and prepared for my new job.  I have four days under my belt and am feeling really great about my job change.  Today's card is for the new Friends of Speedy TV challenge to make a masculine card.  I started off by creating the giraffe print background and then did a wee bit of stamping over the top.  I found that Versamark and black embossing powder stood out a bit better!  Some sponging and a couple of brads finishes off my card.

Let's not forget that Mark's  Finest Papers offers a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  Play along, won't you?

Thanks for stopping by!  You may want to come back by later today to see what else I have in store for you.

Details - Stamps: Wild & Free (MFP); Paper: Very Vanilla, Black Licorice; Ink: Versamark, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake; Accessories: Black embossing powder, black brads, sponge dauber, stampin' dimensionals.

Friends and Frames

We are back to Monday and this Monday is a holiday here in the United States.  It's the last bit of summer before heading back to school for me.  It's also time for a new Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week's challenge is to "frame it".  I had the idea that I would frame a sentiment and then felt compelled to use all the veggies in my Mark's Finest Papers arsenal.  I used Hot & Spicy, Garden Bunny and Seed Packets.  I think it provided me with a nice assortment of veggies for my card base.
Once I get back to school, it gets harder to work diligently in my garden.  I'm going to try and do things differently this year though.  With my new job, I am going to be home earlier and will have time to finish a few tasks before I meet my daughter's school bus.

Don't forget to play along this week for your chance to win a free stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
