Monday With Friends

Hello Friends!  Today I'm showing off my card for the latest Friends of Speedy TV challenge based on flowers.  I couldn't help but select the single Daffodil from the newly released set called Daffodil Greetings.  (From the main page, click on the FOSTV Challenges link and you will be there.)  It seems like ages since I have used this technique and I have forgotten how much I love it.  For my focal image, I embossed the daffodil on vellum with white embossing powder.  I colored my image on the back with regular markers and layered the ink a bit.  After my ink dried, I used vellum tape to adhere my vellum to a piece of white card stock cut to the same size.  It's pretty easy, actually.

I hope you get a chance to play along this week.  We have a prize up for grabs, would you like a little peek at it?

Yep, this is Dogwood Blossoms.   Very pretty, isn't it?  It has wonderful all-purpose sentiments in it, too!  So, let's so your best flower card and you just may receive this great set as a reward for your efforts!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that I used a CPS sketch on today's card.

My super cool cowboy is brought to you today via a tutorial and a challenge.  I found a great one by my design team mate, Lois.  She named the tutorial Matted Spellbinders Labels and you can find it here.  I also played along with this week's color challenge on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge called for Whisper White, Sahara Sand and Basic Gray. Mmmmm, neutral colors, my favorite!  I traced around my die for my gray mat around my cowboy image.  I placed a couple of mini brads in the top right hand corner and finished my card off with a little sponged embossing and some wrapped hemp twine on my card base.

I hope you have enjoyed my little stop on the hop.  Off you go to Tangii now!

When I first saw this daffodil image I was thrilled and the excitement has not faded one bit.  This is such a gorgeous image, I had to showcase it by itself.  I recently read a brief article on mixing colors.  I used the author's idea about using a gallon, a pint and an ounce.  My husband came upstairs to my craft room as I was working on this card with a slice of homemade Roasted Garlic Bread.  When I told my husband about the gallon-pint-ounce theory, he thought I was nuts.  He said, "Paint?  But didn't you color that the other night?".    I replied, "Yes, dear and I would love to have another slice of that bread.  Some things you can only tell your crafty friends!!!  Thanks for listening gals!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to continue on to Tangii.  She'll have something fabulous for your viewing pleasure!

Here is my sample for Fabulous Dogs.  It's such a fun set.  I couldn't resist using the sentiment for a background for this little cutie who is just sitting in the grass.  I colored her up the best I could and made sure to get her little pink tongue hanging out of her mouth.  What kind of dog do you think she is?

I know that my big lug of a Labrador/Great Dane mix would love to play with her.  She gets lonely when she doesn't get to go to work with my husband.

I thank you for stopping by!  Make sure to visit all the rest of the design team for more looks at this new set.  We'll see you tomorrow for another new Mark's Finest Paper stamp set.  Head off to see Tangii now!!

Good Monday Morning!  I am full of joy today and I am not sure why!  I woke up to rain, which we have not had in significant amounts since I returned from vacation over a week ago.  I am just going to go with it!  It could be this happy card that I made for today's challenge at the Home of Speedy TV.  This card contains a sneak peek of a couple of stamps from the to be released set called Daffodil Greetings.  You'll want to come back later on this week and see what else the set has in store for you.

The Friends of Speedy TV challenge today is working on a theme of "anything goes".  Don't you just love an open challenge?  And there is a prize!!!!  The set that is up for grabs is called Cowgirls Rule.  Here's a picture for you:

Flashin' Back with Die Cuts

You all have heard of the Flashback Friday Challenges, haven't you?  If you haven't, Flashback Friday challenges are about going back in time to see the beginnings of your crafty progress.  I find it very interesting.  I do see changes in my work, but this card could be very current for me.  The change I notice here is more about my photography and editing.

Today, I am posting my card for the current challenge to post your first card you made with die cuts.  This card comes back from November of 2008 where I used the Sizzlits Birds and Blooms dies to create my glittering red bird.  I played along with a Unity Addicts Challenge and a CPS sketch.  I still love how the flourishes of the Dream Tree look as a background.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic Tuesday!

Details - Stamps:  Dream Tree (Unity), Sentiments O'Simple (Unity); Paper: Whisper White, Real Red; Ink: Encore Silver, Real Red; Accessories:  Lavender glitter (Joann's), M's silver rhinestones, stampin' dimensionals, sticky strip, Birds & Blooms die.

Spring Fling Monday With Friends

Happy Monday!  I hope your Easter was wonderful.  We had a great time with family, friends and good food.  Today's card is for the current challenge at the Home of Speedy TV.   We all made cards based on a Spring Fling theme.  I used the ribbon image and a sentiment from Flaps My Wattles, the Welcome sentiment from Christmas Wreath Mini and the medium sized Magnolia from Mother's Magnolias.  It may be hard to see from here, but I added a bit of sparkle in the center of my Magnolia and sponged the edge of my keyhole shape.

I used the current Sweet Sunday sketch to get me going for my card.

This week's winner will take home the fabulous Mark's Finest Papers stamp set called Buffalo Spring.

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Flaps My Wattles (MFP), Christmas Wreath Mini (MFP), Mother's Magnolias (MFP); Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Going Gray; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Going Gray, Green Galore; Accessories: 1 3/4" circle punch, scallop border punch, paper snips, copic markers, Sakura clear star gel pen, M's rhinestones, sponge dauber, swiss dots ef, stampin' dimensionals.

Well Wishes for Monday on Tuesday

Okay, so this is not actually posting on Monday, but I was pretty busy flying across the country.  So let's pretend that I did post yesterday.   As per normal, this card is for the Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week, challenge 14, is a get well card.  I'm a bit of a procrastinator, so I was behind in my travel prep and had to make a super quick card.  I cut my base,my mat and then my white embossed piece.  Of course, I stamped first and then embossed with a fabulous sentiment from Greetings and Salutations Stamp Set.  I followed that up my stamping and fussy cutting the single black-eyed susan from the same set.  I took a little artistic liberty and colored it pink.  I'm not really sure if there are pink black-eyed susans anywhere else but on my blog today.

Back to this week's challenge!  Let's not forget that we are playing for a prize.  This week, the winner will receive the stamp set called You Light Up Your Life. Here is a little peek at this great set!
