A Scor-Pal and Heartfelt Creations Surprise Pop Up card

Hello there!  It's Toni with my turn to share a Scor-Pal and Heartfelt Creations project.  All week, the Scor-Pal design team is hopping with the designers from Heartfelt Creations.  You'll want to make sure you see every bit of stunning work that there is to see!  For this hop, I created a Surprise Pop Up card*.  When you pull up on those ribbon tails, you get a access to two more stamped areas and a message.
For this project, you will need:
  • 4 1/4" x 11" piece of card stock
  • 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock
  • 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of card stock
  • 1/2" x 7" piece of copy paper
  • Scraps of card stock for dimensional flower
  • Ruler
  • Craft Knife
  • Ribbon
  • Circle punches
  • Ink
  • Heartfelt Creations stamps (Beautiful You, Elegant Single Leaves, Lily Petals)
  • Heartfelt Creations dies (Perfect Petals die)
  • Additional adhesives (glue dots, foam tape, liquid glue)
  • Glitter

Place the 4 1/4" x 11" piece of card stock into your Scor-Pal with the 11" side against the top fence.  Score at 5 1/2".  Crease the fold and set card base aside.
Stamp the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of card stock with leaf image from the Beautiful You set.  This piece will now become your card front.
Insert your Scor-Mat into your Scor-Pal.  Place the 4 1/4" side of your card front against the top fence.  Place your ruler at 3/4" (or 3 1/2") and cut vertically from 3/4" to 4 3/4".  Turn the card stock 180 degrees and repeat on the opposite side.
Place the 5 1/2" side of the card front against the top fence.  Line your ruler up with the 4 3/4" mark and cut vertically from 3/4" to 3 1/2", connecting the two cuts from the last step.  This will create a flap that is open at the bottom.  (Oops, no pattern here because I forgot to shoot that step and had to go back and re-create the step for you).
Remove the Scor-Mat and place the card front with the 5 1/2" side against the top fence and the cut end of the flap against the left hand side of the Scor-Pal.  Score at 1 1/4" and 4 3/4" between the horizontal cut lines.
Turn the card front over and score at 2 1/2'" between the two horizontal cut lines.  Crease all of the scores from this step and the last step.
Punch a semi-circle out of the top of the card front.  Remember, the bottom of the card front has the cut end of the flap.
Take your 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of card stock and wrap the 1/2" x 7" piece of copy paper around it.  Place a small bit of Scor-Tape where the ends overlap.  Peel the backing off and secure the ends together.  This piece of copy paper will stabilize the sliding part of the card that creates the surprise.
Line the top of the back side of the card front with Scor-Tape and adhere the copy paper stabilizer.
Line the right, left and bottom of the back side of the card front with Scor-Tape.  Line the 1/2" section of the very bottom of the folded flap as shown.
Remove the Scor-Tape backing on the 1/2" section of the folded flap.  Insert the 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" piece of card stock into the copy paper stabilizer and adhere to the back of the card front.
Remove the Scor-Tape backing from the right, left and bottom sides of the card front and adhere to the card base.
Now your card is functional and ready to embellish!

The tag portion of the Surprise Pop Up card has the corner rounded, a hole reinforcer punched and adhered before looping ribbon through the hole.  The leaves from Heartfelt Creations Beautiful You were repeated on the tag and a sentiment was stamped in darker ink.
The revealed portion of the Surprise Pop Up card was stamped with the same leaves and two more sentiments from the Heartfelt Creations Beautiful You set.
For the folded front of the Surprise Pop Up card, a dimensional flower was created by stamping with the Heartfelt Creations Lily Petals and then die cutting them out with Heartfelt Creations Perfect Petals dies.  Two leaves were created by stamping with the Elegant Single Leaves set and then die cutting them out with the same Perfect Petals die set.  Both petals and leaves were sponged with color to accent them.  After the petals and leaves were die cut and sponged, one single score line was made down the center and the Scor-Tool was used to round the edges of the petals and leaves.  The petals and leaves were adhered into a flower shape with glue dots.  Liquid glue  was applied to the flower center and then glass glitter was sprinkled over this glue.  The whole flower was then adhered onto the bottom half of the folded flap.
Here is the finished product when lying down flap and pulled open.
Here is another view of the card standing upright with the flap closed.
Thanks for having a look all the way through!

Scor-Pal and Heartfelt Creations Week

Time for another hop with the ladies of Scor-Pal and the design team at Heartfelt Creations!  We will be hopping all week and it should be a good time.  Start off by heading over to the Scor-Pal blog to see who is leading off this week!  Before I go, I'll give you a little taste of what I made for this week's hop.
Thanks for coming by again today!  I'll be up just a bit later in the week with my full project!  Have a wonderful day!

Friends and Sparkle

Good morning and happy Monday!  Today, the Friends of Speedy TV are adding sparkle to their cards.  Sparkle is sometimes difficult to capture in photographs.  I'm sure there is a trick to it, but I haven't learned it yet.  I think my sparkle is visible, but you may need to click on my photo to get a close up.  I heat embossed the bottom mat with iridescent ice embossing powder.  That whole layer is glittering.  Beyond that, my card is quite simple.  I embossed my card base, die cut two layers, embossed a butterfly on vellum and stamped my sentiment.  I did add a bit of Versamark ink to my purple layer for interest.
Now don't you forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week's set is very cute and is called Gullible.  Here is a look at the mini set.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Friends and Birthdays

Good Monday morning!  I'm here with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge (#77) and today we are all about birthdays!  I opted for a simple and straightforward birthday card.  I have been practicing my skies lately and I really like the look of sponged clouds like this.  I didn't want to cover up too much of the clouds so I reached for Scenic Selections and stamped a few birds.  I whipped up a birthday banner, popped it up off my card base and called it done!  Now don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers is one generous company and they offer up a stamp set prize to one lucky participant of each challenge.
For this particular card, I used a Lisa Arana sketch, called Wanna Sketch.  I adore her sketches and her style!

Just a quick post today folks.  You may remember from last week that I had a countdown going on until my final day of work.  As it turns out, my first day of summer vacation is my first day of jury duty.  I'm so bummed.  Don't get me wrong, I have no qualms about doing my civic duty.  The timing just stinks!

Have a great Monday!

So my daughter says, "Is that white stuff meant to be like that?"  I answer, "Why, yes it is, honey."  My guess is that she would have made sure all the stripes were filled in.  Not me, I'm feeling just a bit contrary.  I know that white stars go on the blue and white stripes belong with the red.  I read about a mixy-matchy trend yesterday and felt a bit justified in my contrariness.

Just in case you have been following my countdown, I now have TWO more school days until unlimited crafty time and long periods of reading with my daughter.

Don't forget to head over to Sue's blog and see what she has in store for you.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

I'm back today with a couple of those sweet little Dalmatians from the featured set today!  I trimmed these guys from the helmet and then stamped them a wall to peek over!  The older set called Brick Wall mini is just perfect for this.  I added a border of red around my wall for some interest and then stamped my birthday sentiment from the set.  Aren't they cute?  Don't you just want to take them home?

If you have been with me all week, the countdown is still going on.  I have three more days of school left until we let out for summer.  Woohoo, unlimited crafty time!!

Don't forget to head on over to Sue's blog!  Thanks for stopping by!

This is the perfect set for me!  If you were here yesterday,  you know I have a countdown going on.  If you weren't here, I work at an elementary school and school lets out in FOUR more days.  The sentiment on my card could not be more true.  I went clean and simple as I was staying inside my comfort zone!  In the craziness that is the end of the school year, I need all the normalcy I can get!
On a less crazy, more happy note, I took my daughter to the local public library and got her signed up for the summer reading program.  This year I paid for a library card as I have a real reader now.  While we were at the library, I ran into some acquaintances I had not seen for a while and my daughter laid down with a book and read, oblivious to all around here.  After we got home with her new books, she took them all the couch and read for an hour straight.  I have a feeling this summer is going to revolve around the library which doesn't hurt my feelings at all!

Off you go to Sue's blog, but not before you comment!  Have a fantastic day!

You Are An Angel & Wings - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

Just around the corner we have this month's Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop Release.  Are you ready for another month of fun stamps from Mark's Finest Papers?  To get you primed for some  hopping fun, I have a couple of sneak peeks of the 5th set and the mini set.  To the left you are seeing a peek of the beautiful angel included in the new set entitled You Are An Angel.  Isn't she lovely?  My first thought was to make a bookmark with the sentiment stamped below her.  I think it would make a great gift and a good way to keep your angel with you in your quiet moments.   This was a pretty quick and easy project.  I stamped my angel on my paper, making sure to leave enough room for my sentiment on the bottom and my jumbo eyelet on the top.  I stamped my angel, colored her and then colored the rest of the bookmark around her the blue green color.  What you can't really see  in this photo is the mottled color of the background.  I masked my angel and sprayed rubbing alcohol over the top and then let it dry.  I finally finished off my card with some May Arts mini cording.

Next up, I used the Wings mini stamp set to make this four piece note card set.  I stamped each of the butterfly wings beside each other and then created the bodies of the butterfly with some rhinestones.  I stamped the edge of my card with the polka dot border image from Flaps My Wattles.  It just had the perfect feel to me for a sweet little note card set.  I wanted to complete my note card set with a few envelopes.  I looked through my craft room for my small square envelopes, only to discover that they are at work.  Soooo, I did what every crafter knows to do, I made some more.  I whipped up four little envies with my Scor-pal, Scor-tape and some printer paper.

Here are my note cards, stacked on top of the envelops and tied off with a little bit of white cording.  They are ready to gift someone with some homemade goodness.  Thanks for coming by again today!  Be sure to come back for one more post, later on this evening if you are on the West Coast, like me, or early tomorrow morning, if you are on the East Coast!  Have a great day!
Details - Angel Bookmark - Stamps: You Are An Angel (MFP); Paper: Sweet Tooth White, chipboard; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Copic & Touch Twin Markers, jumbo eyelet, crop-a-dile, May Arts mini cording, alcohol mister, Scor-Tape.  Butterfly Note card set - Stamps: Wings (MFP), Flaps My Wattles (MFP); Paper: Sweet Tooth White, printer paper; Ink: Groovy Guava, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron, Pool Party; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-tape, white cording, SU rhinestones.

Friends Getting Well

Good Morning and Happy Monday!  The sun is shining and I am well rested for this busy day on my blog.  (On a side note, there are only five more work days for me until I am off for the summer.  Pardon my excitement!).  I'm here this morning with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week it is challenge number 76 and we are making Get Well cards and I opted for a one layer card this week.   I just did a bit of masking to get those rainclouds that are ever so present in the Pacific Northwest.  I followed that up with a partial image of my umbrella and  a sentiment and then some big juicy raindrops. I colored everything and then rounded the bottom corners to finish off my card.

We have a great prize for one lucky participant and this week the stamp set is called Festive Wreath mini.  Take a look:
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Be sure to pop back by a couple of times today as we start June's blog hop really soon!

Details - Stamps: Raind Clouds(MFP); Paper: Sweet Tooth White; Ink: Tuxedo Black, London Fog; Accessories: Copic and Touch Twin Markers, corner chomper, post-its for masking.

Don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set for one lucky participant.  This set is super fun and is called Corn Ears.  Here is a look at it!
