Friends and Buttons (06/23/14)

Good morning and happy Monday!  Today, we have a new Friends of Speedy TV challenge for you and it's all about buttons.  Since the theme was buttons, I dug around in my stash and found the In Stitches stamp set.  I used three different images from the set and then strategically place my buttons upon my measuring tape.  I used a Glaze pen on my black handles of my scissors and rounded a couple of the corners to call this clean and simple card finished.
I'll leave you with this super quick post as I got an invite late last night to go on a river rafting trip.  I leave in about 15 minutes to travel to the east side of the state and the Wenatchee River.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Details - Stamps: In Stitches (MFP); Paper: Choice Snow White (TE); Ink: Tuxedo Black, Basic Gray, More Mustard; Accessories: Buttons, mini glue dots, corner chomper, Copic Multiliner, Sakura Glaze pen.

Friends and Side Step Cards

Good Monday Morning!  I'm done with school and ready for challenges.  Today's challenge is brought to you from the Friends of Speedy TV.  The theme is side step cards and I opted to use In Tents for my card.  I'm ready for some camping.  Over the weekend, I set up my hubby's little one man tent as I participated in the Relay for Life, an overnight event in which I walked 25 miles.  It was crazy and it was fun.  I was on a team with my co-workers who are a bunch of fun!  After 20 miles, one of my co-workers suggested strongly that I sit down and I fell asleep for about 30 minutes.  After that, I was back up and stayed up until I got home.  A three hour nap at home kept me going for the rest of the day.  However, I moved at a snail's pace.

Let's not forget that everything Mark's Finest Papers hosts a challenge, there is a mini stamp set up for grabs.  This time it is Gullible.  What a fun set!  Here's a look at it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

I adore this set!  Just look at that sweet solo tree.  I couldn't help but build my clean and simple card around it.  I created some snow drifts for it and then frosted the top of the snow with Stardust Stickles.  I also frosted parts of the star and branches.

More fabulous flowers!  I never tire of them.  This set is called Great Flowers and I water colored this one.  It was simple and quick and I love how it turned out.  I have been wanting to use more colored card bases and it worked marvelously with the water coloring.
The last time I colored lilies, I think I colored them like Stargazers.  They are my favorite for their delicious smell.  The shapes in this set called Flower Blocks are fun.  I just played with different layers and picked up the hot pink in the lily.  What might be hard to see here is the Stickles I applied to the petals.  Fun stuff, I tell you!

Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to come on back tomorrow for more creativity!  Off you go to Janine's blog now.

Pears and berries and branches all come in this new set from Mark's Finest Papers.  I love it.  What I am really excited about is the great font in which the Pear sentiment is printed.  It has a great 1940's vibe to it.  I would normally color my berries red, but this salmon or pink color really spoke to me.  I think it contrasts nicely with the green pear color.  Be sure to visit the other ladies posting today and come back tomorrow for more creativity.

Details - Stamps: Pretty Pears (MFP); Paper: Cameo Coral, Black Licorice (MFT), Very Vanilla; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Versamark; Accessories: Gold ep, heat tool, Copic Markers, May Arts ribbon, Scor-tape, SU adhesive backed pearls, black sharpie, stampin' dimensionals.

The masculine card style is not always easy for me, but the gears as a subject really helped.  While I initially only thought of metallic colored gears, stamping them in color proved to be quite fun.  I used some Seahawk colors here and I think the possibilities are endless.  With these two new sets, masculine cards will be flying out of your craft room!
On my Gear Up card, I used colored I would more typically associate with gears and then limited my embellishments to staples.  I stamped my senitment about three times.  Then, I trimmed out each word and used a direct-to-paper technique to ink the edges.

That's all from me today.  Don't forget to hop through the ladies posting today and come on back tomorrow for more creativity.

Friends and Red, White and Blue (06/09/14)

Good Morning!  It's Monday and time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  Today's challenge is to use red, white and blue and I opted to make a card that didn't scream patriotism.  I was inspired to use this cute snowman from Please Snow.  This set will be releasing this week and is totally cute!  Of course, my red is this snowman's cold weather gear, the blue is the clear sky behind him and the white is the snow!  My card is clean and simple in my normal style.  I embossed and worked within the oval shape and then rounded a couple of corners.  This will be perfect for me in late fall to send to my dear sister in Florida.  That seems to be the time of year when she misses our Washington weather.

In other news, today is the last Monday of the school year for me.  Next Monday, I will be a footloose and fancy free gal.  I'll be working in my garden and playing with my 8 year old non-stop.  I can't wait.  Plus, this is the time of year at school when we are busy in the most fun kind of way.

Let's not forget, Mark's Finest Papers offers up a stamp set for one lucky participant.  This week, the set up for grabs is USA Heros.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Friends and Beach Inspired

Good Monday morning!  Today I offer you a new Friends of Speedy TV challenge with a beach theme.  It ties into the lovely weekend camping trip I took with our family and three other families this weekend.  My beach theme offering is specific to the beaches here in the Pacific Northwest.  We have rocky beaches and most often, the beaches are cold and windy.  This weekend was only a slight exception.  We had plenty of wind, great for kite flying and sleeping (the side of the tent trailer rippled and rippled and lulled me to sleep).  We also had a bit of sun, enough for me to sunburn my hose.  For my card today, I colored my lighthouse and home just like the lighthouse at Fort Casey.  This light house image conveys the rocky beaches of my state, but doesn't imitate the landscaping around the lighthouse where we camping.  I took a little creative license and added some water and resulting spray from all the wind!

Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week the set is called Happy Harmony.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!  Here are a couple of shots from this weekend's camping trip.

Details - Stamps: Lighthouses (MFP); Paper: Whisper White, Black Licorice, Poppy Parade, Basic Gray; Ink: London Fog, Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Copic Markers, paper snips, stampin' dimensionals.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score #5

Yippee!  It's time for another fun Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge with a fun theme:  Bright & Sunny.  Let me just tell it is perfect for today.  The sun is shining beautifully here at my house with a little breeze.  I got a little too much sun yesterday while we were camping, so I am enjoying it from inside (translation: laundry).  For my project, I created my own little gift bag.  It was super easy with 5 separate scores, folding and taping!  Before the folding and taping, I stamped and colored with suns randomly about my paper.  I stamped and trimmed out an extra sun for the front of the bag.  Then I liberally applied Stickles to my bag, which are not showing up in this photo.  I filled this bag with some tissue and chocolate squares for my daughters teacher's birthday.  She loved it!
I hope you will play along with this fun challenge!  The rules are posted here on the Scor-Pal blog, as well as a place to link your project!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
