When I first saw this set, all I could think about was my mother's patterns in her sewing room.  I pulled up some vintage patterns online and set to work.  I decided that Mark's Finest Papers would put out a new line of "patterns" and I named them "Let's go out!".  I borrowed the 25 cents stamp from previously released All Postal and the numbers from the new set called Calendar.  I created a bottom border for my card with the measuring tape from I'm In Stitches and some faux stitching of my own.  Thoughts?

Don't forget to head off to Sue's blog now.  Thanks for coming by!

I created my card very simply.  It's a lot of embossing and a lot of layers.  I used a partial sentiment and the two ducks from the new Duck Hunting set.  I needed some scenery for them to fly over, so I borrowed some cattails from a set called Marsh Silhouettes.  I embossed all my images and then layered the green and white with some brown.  I drew my inspiration from a button I found for Ducks Unlimited.
I think it's pretty clear to see how I came about my design, even if I didn't have the exact same green color.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to keep going on the hop.  Next, you will visit Sue!

Have you met my friend, Rusty?  You have probably seen him throughout today's hop.  I love the big bold tiger and he totally fits into the corner.  I felt a square was the most appropriate shape for my first card.  I stamped on patterned paper and then colored it a bit.  A sentiment across the top and a turned up corner finishes my card.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to head on to Sue's blog to see what she has in store.

Calendar and Mini New Year - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

Welcome back!  This is my second post for today and I am sharing the extra set and the mini set for the Mark's Finest Papers November release.  This card features a stamp set called Calendar.  From it, I used the snowflake image to decorate the stamp image from All Postal.  I also used the "holiday", " December", "2", and "5" sentiments from Calendar.  This cool new set will allow for all kinds of personalization.  I ended up trimming out my stamp and popping it up over an embossed card base.

This card features the new mini set called New Year.  This set is added to your order free of charge when you purchase the four newly released sets in November.   I think this is card is pretty self explanatory.  I used four separate images on my card. I drew in the edge of the table that my drinks are on just to ground them.  There is also a cork image next to the bottle, but I just trimmed it away.
Thanks for stopping by once again!  I'll see you a bit later when we start the Mark's Finest Papers November blog hop!

Friends and Torn Paper

Good Monday Morning and Happy Veteran's Day to all of those who have given of themselves or their families in order for me to enjoy my freedoms.  I do appreciate it each day.  Today's challenge with the Friends of Speedy TV is to use torn paper on your card.  I have to admit that this stumped me for a while and I did what I normally do when I am stumped.  I looked around blog land until I found some inspiration.  It really didn't take me too long until I stumbled upon a sketch that I saw Karen Giron use on one of her cards.  After seeing this card, it made sense for me to use the torn edge like any other border punch.
Let's remember that Mark's Finest Papers sponsors this challenge and offers a free stamp set to one lucky participant each week.  This week's stamp set that is up for grabs is called Pumpkins and Sunflowers.  I don't have this set in my personal collection and I'm sad about it.  Don't miss out on your chance.  There are no special tools needed for a torn paper challenge.  I hope you will play along.  Here is a look at the set.
Thanks for stopping by!

Friends and Sympathy (11/4/13)

Good Monday morning!  I'm back with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge!  This week's challenge is to make a sympathy card.  I'm sure I don't have to tell you that it is always a good idea to make one when you don't need one.  Today, I wanted something soft.  I got out my watercolor crayons and my water spritzing bottle.  I colored up the flower image with my crayons and stamped the blooms around the top and left edges.  After they dried a bit, I stamped my sentiments.  I partially matted the bottom and right edges and sponged the other edges for just a bit of definition.  Finally, I popped the whole thing up.

Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers a frees stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week is the fabulous Dragonflies set! I hope you can play along and maybe win this gem!
Thanks for stopping by!
