Swallowtail Mini - Mark's Finest Papers Preview Week

Welcome back to another preview of the December Mark's Finest Papers release.  This is the featured mini for this month called Swallowtail.  I adore this big beautiful butterfly and had to feature it on my card.  I used a couple of sentiments on my card.  I repetitively stamped beautiful and then overstamped the greeting with a darker color!  Fun stuff, this new set!  Now don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers is trying a new format for it new release hops.  You get a shorter hop list and a longer time to comment with the same amount of eye candy for sets.  I'm not part of the hop this week, so scoot on over to the Mark's Finest Papers blog to get started on the hop.

Friends and ABC (12/02/13)

Hey there!  We have arrived in December and I think this must be where time kicks into overdrive.  The year is completely flying by.  I made this  sweet little box for the current Friends of Speedy TV challenge to make Anything But a Card.  This challenge comes at a great time as this week begins pixie week at work.  I'm taking a little risk in that the staff member for whom I am a pixie could be reading this.  I provided my blog address as additional information for the staff member who drew my name.  While I don't think it's likely that she has my name, I have to admit that it's a possibility.  For this challenge I made a simple 2,5,7,10 box to hold some candy inside.  I chose color purple and navy as those were a couple of favorite colors listed by my pixie person!  Up close, it's quite pretty as I used a Sakura Clear Star gel pen to outline the eye of the feather.  That particular pen adds a bit of sparkle without changing the color drastically.

Don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week, the stamp set being offered is Nature's Brushstrokes mini.  This is a great challenge for getting Christmas gifts done.  Won't you play along?
Thanks for stopping by!

Friends and Anything Goes (11/25/13)

Good Monday Morning!  I'm back with a Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week on Speedy TV, the theme is "anything goes".  I have been feeling the urge to create for the holiday...as we are getting really close.  I stamped the snowflake from Calendar repeatedly with a few different colored inks.  I underscored the snowflakes with a sentiment from Joyous Season.  I scored a couple of lines to frame my silver cording and trimmed tiny triangles between the score lines to hold my cording in place.

I used the current clean and simple stamping blog sketch, Fall To Layout 268, for my card.  Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers always offers a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week the stamp set is called Celebrate Mini.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Be sure to check out all of our designers who participated in our hop. The more you comment the more chances you have to win one of these great stamp set give-aways!

Oh my!  This was fun and deceptively easy!  I started by stamping my "snowchick" on some white paper and coloring her to my heart's content.  Then I used a pointillism technique to fill in the white space around her.  I die cut my paper and got to work applying my trimmed pine cone petals.  I added some white satin ribbon for a hanger and cut a piece of felt the same size as my paper to "finish" the back.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to check out the rest of the hop.  Links for today's project are listed above and you can check out the rest of the tutorials and their links on the Mark's Finest Papers blog.

Friends and Thanksgiving (11/18/13)

Good Monday morning!  Don't worry, it's not quite Thanksgiving yet.  I'm a little early and getting some help to be prepared from my Friends at Speedy TV.  The Friends challenge for this week is to create a Thanksgiving card.  When I sat down to create, I started thinking about what Thanksgiving means to me.  The ideas that came to me were family, friends, home, and warm.  With the home idea sticking in my mind, I reached for the Primitive Farm set with it's cute little house and tree.  I stamped, traced, cut and sponged to pull off this little number.  I finished it off with the classic "Happy Thanksgiving" sentiment from I am Thankful
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers gives away a free stamp set for one lucky participant.  This week the stamp set is called the Little Church stamp set.
Thanks for stopping by!

For my last card  of this month's hop, I wanted to play with some sequins.  I scattered them about my card with some in my barren branches, some on my sentiment and some drifting down below.  My branches with stamped with a gray and then stamped again, generation fashion, to achieve a lighter color.  Finally, I stamped one sentiment below my branches and one on an embossed oval that I popped up on my card base.  When I sat back and looked at my card, the sequins took on a snowflake quality that I really liked.  I hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to move on to Sue!!
