Oh boy, Birds of the Orient is such a fun set!  It blends beautifully with many of the other Oriental themed sets that Mark's Finest Papers has released of late.  I used the crane image and two symbols from Birds of the Orient and paired it with Be Virtuous, Lucky You and Works of Art for a collage look.

Here is what I did with the new Foo Dogs stamp set. I was unfamiliar with Foo Dogs and so I set off for Pinterest and found this lovely post! I took color and texture inspiration from the second photo in the post.

A Scor-Pal Mini Pizza Box

It's Throwback Thursday and I'm back with another fun Scor-Pal project.  I've got a box for you.  It's another box that you can make it out of one sheet of card stock and some patterned paper. After a few scores, cuts and embellishments, the mini pizza box is ready to fill and give away. 

Here is what you need to get started:

• One 6" x 11" piece of card stock
• One 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" piece of card stock
• One 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" piece of patterned paper
• Additional card stock for embellishment
• Scor-Pal
• Scor-Tape
• Scissors
• Dies and die cutting tool
• Dimensional adhesive

First, place the 6" by 11" piece of card stock with the 6" side of the paper against the top fence of the Scor-Pal.  Score at 1" and 5".

Turn your card stock so that the 11" side of the paper is against the top fence of the Scor-Pal.  Score at 1", 5", 6" and 10". 

Cut from the outside edges in to the 1" line on all 1", 5", 6" and 10" score lines to create 6 separate 1"x 1" tabs. 

Crease all of the score lines.

Flip the card stock over and apply Scor-Tape to the back side of each tab, as shown.

Remove the adhesive backing from the first two tabs and adhere the first section to create the mini pizza box lid.  Remove the adhesive backing from the other four tabs and adhere to the inside of the second section to create the base of the mini pizza box.

Decorate your mini pizza box, as desired.  Adhere the  patterned paper on top of the card stock mat and mount that on top of the mini pizza box.  Trim out label shape and use dimensional adhesive to mount on top of patterned paper.  Die cut and emboss leaves and embellish around the label shape with sentiment. 

Fill with anything you desire.  I can't decide if I will fill with pumpkin shaped cookies in a wax paper envelope or if I will fill with hand written notes about the things for which I am thankful throughout the month.  This is a nice sized little box and could easily hold many things.  You can let your imagination run wild.

Friends and Babies (02/03/14)

Good Monday morning to you all!  I'm back with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week we are making baby cards.  I don't have a need for one right now, but you never know when then next announcement is coming!  I used a technique called paper tole, layering up the head and ear on my baby blue elephant.  I colored in his tusk and toenails with my dreaded white gel pen.  I swear white gel pens are a money pit.  I have a hard time getting any of them to work for longer than a month!  Thoughts? 

I nabbed this cute sketch from a site called Unscripted Sketches.  Fun, huh?  I trimmed out the little stars from some patterned paper I had on hand.  Let me remind that Mark's Finest Papers offers a stamp set to one lucky participant in this challenge.  So be sure to link up your card for your chance to win the mini set call You May Bow.  Here's a look at the set:

Using Horses

This is my card for the latest Ways To Use It challenge hostessed by Sabrina.  With the start of the Chinese New Year, we are now in the Year of the Horse and Sabrina has challenged us to create a card with a horse on it.  I grabbed this beauty from Mark's Finest Papers called Wild Horses.  I stamped and colored my horse and then added some grass for him to run upon.  Finally, I stamped in the birthday sentiment trailing my horse.  My card needed a little something else, so I added a couple of brads from my stash that matched my horse just perfectly!

More Than One Score - Flowers

Woot! Woot!  We have a new challenge on the Scor-Pal blog and I think you will all love this!  The challenge for the month of February is to create a project with "more than one score" and flowers.  For my card, I opted for a grid technique.  I used my Scor-Pal and my Scor-Envi to create a very quick diagonal scoring pattern and then stamped my solid flower images over the top!  I matted my focal image on a brown layer and then wrapped some kraft seam binding around it.  Finally, I popped the whole thing up off my card base and I was done!

Friends and Dry Embossing

Good Monday Morning to you!  I'm here with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge and this week we are using dry embossing on our cards.  I elected to dry emboss the base of my card.  I do that often as it fits nicely with my CAS style.  I think the embossing adds a lovely bit of interest without cluttering up my design.  I chose these sweet flowers from Lots of Words and added a sentiment from the set too.  I know that I am not the only person who struggles with their camera, so I will go ahead and say that in real life, the blue sentiment strip matches the palest blue in the flowers. A very fine black line around my image and my sentiment finishes off today's card.
