Friends and Sketches

Good Monday morning!  It's back to work for me.  I hope you can start off with the fun Friends of Speedy TV challenge number 44 that include a sketch.  My card today was inspired by some designer paper I had on my desk.  The little acorns in the patterned paper made me think of the acorns in the Mark's Finest Paper set called Autumn Splendor.  It's just so timely...I wish you could see all the leaves blowing around my yard!  I took a little creative license here and left off the trio of circle, which could easily be rhinestones or pearls.  I just wanted a fairly flat, mailable card so I opted edit that part.
Don't forget, Mark's Finest Papers offers a prize for one lucky participant.  The set up for grabs this week is called Oh Crab.  Super fun set!!  Here's  a look at it:

Won't you play along?  Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful day!

Details - Stamps: Autumn Splendor (MFP), Oopsy Daisy (MFP); Paper: DCWV Autumn Melody Stack and Autumn Melody Cardstock Stack; Ink: Rich Cocoa, Early Espresso; Accessories: Copic Markers, corner chomper, sponge dauber, stampin' dimensionals.

A Scor-Pal & DCWV Nugget Box

Hello!  I hope you enjoyed the Scor-Pal and DCWV week long feature! Today, I can share my main project that I made.  For a recap of the other projects, check out my yesterday's post. If you haven't seen what the rest of the team has made, you will definitely want to check it all out on the Scor-Pal blog.  Don't forget about the ladies on the DCWV blog who have been working hard with their Scor-Pal products.  Be sure to see what they cooked up!!

I offer you a sweet little treat in the form of a nugget box.

You will want to start with a piece of patterned paper or card stock that is 3 5/8" wide by 6 1/4" long.  Place it on your Scor-Buddy and score on the right hand side of your paper at 5 1/8" and 5 3/4".  Turn your paper 180 degrees and score again at 5 1/8" and 5 3/4".  (See Diana's video for an easy way to achieve those eighths).

Turn you paper 90 degrees and score on the right hand side of you paper at 2 1/2" and 3 1/8".  Turn your paper 180 degrees and score again at 2 1/2" and 3 1/8".

Trim out the corner pieces shown above.

Create some tabs by trimming as indicated above on the red lines.

Ah, now we see some of the fabulous DCWV Autumn Melody patterned paper.  In this step, you want to crease all of your score lines you have made.

Place some Scor-Tape on the panels adjacent to each side of the bottom of the box.

Peel the backing of your Scor-Tape on the shorter sides first and adhere it down.

Peel the backing of your Scor-Tape on longer sides and adhere the tabs from the shorter sides.

Adhere the longer sides to the inside, finishing the bottom of you box.

Start on the cover of your box now with a piece of acetate ( I used a piece of plastic report cover) measuring 4 5/8" by 4/16". The brown card stock behind the acetate is only for the purposes of picture taking.

Score at 3/8", 1 7/8", 2 1/2" and 4".

Crease each score line and apply Scor-Tape to the 3/8" section.

Peel the backing of your Scor-Tape and adhere the cover together.  Slide it over your box.

Now  for our wrapped nuggets, you will need some Hershey nuggets and a 1" by 2 3/4" piece of patterned paper.  Again, we have some luscious DCWV patterned paper from the Autumn Melody Stack covering these nuggets.

Place some Scor-Tape on the back of the nugget and some Scor-Tape on one end of the patterned paper.

Peel the backing off your Scor-Tape and wrap up your nugget.  The nugget box I made today fits 4 nuggets, so you will want to repeat this step three more times.

Finally, slide back your cover and place the wrapped nuggets in your box.  Decorate as desired.

Thanks for hanging with me through the tutorial!  I hope you enjoyed it!  You can find the original directions on Splitcoaststampers and the modifications for a long box here

Details - Stamps: Taglines (Flourishes), Fine Herbs (Flourishes); Paper: DCWV Autumn Melody Stack, DCWV Autumn Melody Cardstock Stack, Very Vanilla, clear report cover; Ink: Soft Suede, Cajun Craze; Accessories: Scor-Buddy, Scor-Tape, 1/8" circle punch, gold cording. glue dot.

Scor-Pal and DCWV Week Accompaniment

Hello and welcome to the Scor-Pal and DCWV week long feature!  If you haven't seen what the rest of the team has made, you may want to check it all out on the Scor-Pal blog. The DCWV design team has been busy with their Scor-Pal products too.  Don't forget to check them out on their blog.  Today, my main project is being featured on the Scor-Pal blog, along with Lisa Andrew's project.  While you are here, I want to show you a couple other projects that I made to compliment my main project.  I was going for a gift set for my daughter to give to her teacher.

My first complimentary project is a Teabag Holder* and starts off with fabulous pale vanilla colored, textured card stock from the DCWV Autumn Melody Cardstock Stack.  I placed a  91/2" x 11 3/4" piece of it on my Scor-Pal and then scored at 2 3/4", 5 1/2", 8 1/4" and 11".

I then turned my card stock one turn and scored the full length of the piece at 2 3/4" and 8 3/4".  Next I scored at the 2" mark from the top of the page to the first score line.  I skipped over the second section marked by score lines and picked back up at the third section, as indicated by the red lines below.  At the 3 3/4" mark, I scored down starting with the fourth section to the bottom of the page.  Again, red lines show this score on the page.

Trim away the portions marked with red x's in the photo below.

Cut tabs in the card stock as indicated by the next set of red lines in the photo below.

Burnish all the current score lines in the project with the Scor-Tool.

Apply Scor-Tape along the bottom and right hand side tabs.  You will also need small pieces of Scor-Tape placed vertically where I have red lines in the top tabs.

Remove Scor-Tape backing and adhere side and bottom tabs of the teabag holder.  Now you can see my small pieces of Scor-Tape placed vertically along the top tabs.

Next, I die cut one piece of cardboard and two pieces of the same textured card stock into a label shape that was about 3 3/8" x 3 3/8".  I adhered the textured card stock to each side of the cardboard, creating a finished base.  I used my Scor-Tape once again to adhere the bottom of my box to my base.

Then, I removed the back from the Scor-Tape on the top tabs and adhered then down.  I began with the tab that has two pieces of tape and worked my way clockwise around the tabs.

I cut a second piece of cardboard with the same size label shape as my base. I covered that shape with two pieces of  patterned paper from the DCWV Autumn Melody Stack.  I placed Scor-Tape along the outside edges of my teabag holder and adhered my patterned paper covered top.

Here you have the finished teabag holder seen below.

I added one 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of gold foiled card stock from the DCWV Autumn Melody Cardstock Stack to cover the inside seams of my teabag holder.

I finished off my teabag holder sides with four panels of textured card stock, foiled card stock and patterned paper.  I stamped a teacup image in a matching ink and popped it up off the front of my teabag holder.  I added a trio of leaves, die cut from matching textured paper, tied with some linen thread to the top of my tea bag holder as a finishing touch.

My next accompanying  project is an Easel Post-It Note Holder**.

I started out with a 3 5/8" x 11" piece of textured card stock from the DCWV Autumn Melody Cardstock Stack.  I placed it on my Scor-Pal and scored at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2".

Then I rotated my card stock 180 degrees.  First, I creased the score line at 5 1/2" by folding the card stock over onto itself, using the left and top guides to make it perfect.  Then I creased the next score line back onto itself.  You will end up with a shape just like this.

I added my Scor-Tape to exposed 2 3/4" by 3 5/8" face, as seen below.

I peeled the backing off my Scor-Tape and adhered a 3 5/8" x 5 1/2"  piece of DCWV textured card stock on top of whole project, creating the face of my project.  Again, I used the guides to be sure that my piece was adhered straight.

Next, I peeled the backing off the post-it note and lined it with Scor-Tape

Finally, I peeled the backing off the Scor-Tape and centered the post-it notes at the bottom of the project base and tucked the project face behind the post-it notes.

You can then finish it as desired.  I repeated the same theme as I used on my Teabag Holder with textured card stock, foiled card stock and patterned paper.  For the diamond focal piece, I stamped a sentiment and two flourishes, matted it and popped it up off my project face.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my projects.

*Please note that I first saw this project demonstrated by Sophia Landry within the Paper Crafter's Library.

Here is the sample I made for the Mark's Finest Papers company blog.  You may have already seen it if you started the blog hop from the very beginning.  I opted for my standard clean and simple card.  The fish was a ton of fun to color.  I sponged a bit of color on the bottom of the card to accent my waves, along with a little Sakura clear star gel pen.
For my next card, I colored up the cabin scene.  I stamped it twice and colored the cabin and right hand side tree again to pop them up on my scene.  A fun patterned paper, a corner punch finish  and a stamped sentiment finish off this card.

Thanks for coming by for another look today!  I think you will all really enjoy today's set.  I am beyond thrilled to have another Mark's Finest Papers background stamp.  I think this background will make amazing distressed looking projects.  I whipped up a little easel card for you today.  You can find a tutorial for the Easel card here.  I used the background for the largest part of my easel card and then sponged around the edges.  Then, I stamped the butterfly on the card stock two times and then stamped, colored and trimmed out a third to pop up on the base of my easel card.  For accents, I used some champagne colored rhinestones and some faux washi tape.  When I make my faux washi tape, I use tissue paper and Scor-Tape.  On my tape, I stamped one of the sentiments from Cracked Hello and on the other I stamped the background again.

Welcome back!  I guess I am feeling kind of red!  It must be all the Christmas spirit floating around that has me in a pretty traditional mood!  I opted for my clean and simple stylings again with an embossed background, a simple sentiment and a few strategically placed poinsettias.  I love these poinsettias.  Now that I have done them in red, I can't wait to try them in pink!

Hi there!  I'm so glad you could visit me for a fun little Christmas card today.  I couldn't resist snowman and Santa images.  I stamped each on a small square, drew in a frame and my ground and colored them up.  It couldn't have been any more simple.  The small images reminded me of pictures you might see in a film negative (oops, I might be dating myself here!), so that is how I came up with my sketch.  Since this set is all images, I borrowed a sentiment from a fabulous Mark's Finest Papers mini set called Christmas Wreath Mini.  I think it works perfectly!

That's all from me today.  Don't forget to stop by Tangii's blog to see what treat she has in store for you.

Halloween Selections & Enjoy The View - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

Bonus?  That's right, Bonus!  Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company is offering a free mini stamp set when you purchase all four newly released sets.  The free mini set for October is called Halloween Selections.  This card showcases all the little bats included in the new mini.  They create quite a swarm here to bring you a special Halloween Boo!

This next card features a soon to be released set called Enjoy The View.  This set is the October Mark's Finest Paper's sneak release.  It's a really fun set that will totally lend itself to building scenes, but I went a different way with it today.  I used one of the tiny accent stamps to create a fun patterned grid for my card front!  I score my straight line on the bottom first and stamped my sentiment.  Then I scored my grid and stamped my accents diagonally.  Finally, I filled in the alternate diagonals with rhinestones for a bit of shine!

Be sure to stop by the Mark's Finest Papers blog to see what the other designers did with these fun new stamps!

Details - Boo! card:  Stamps: Halloween Selections (MFP), I'm Going Batty (MFP), Paper: Chipboard (MFP), Basic Black; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Copic Markers, Scor-Pal, dimensional adhesive; Grid Card:  Stamps: Enjoy The View (MFP); Paper: Old Barnwood Grey (MFP), Basic Black; Ink: Tuxedo Black, London Fog; Accessories: Scor-Pal, sponge dauber, rhinestones, dimensional adhesive.

Scor-Pal & DCWV Blog Hop

It's sure to be a fun week as the Scor-Pal designers are working with some amazing DCWV products.  Don't miss a single project of the six day showcase.  Find tutorials and links to designer blogs every day on the Scor-Pal blog!  A little birdie told me that there may be prizes involved, so don't forget to comment!

I'll leave you with a tiny little peek at what I may have created (wink, wink)!!

Have a great day!
