Happy New Year!!! Welcome to the first blog hop of 2013! We are so excited to share the great stamp sets we are releasing this month and the months to come.
The special stamp set we have for you this month is:
" OH Baby"
The mini stamp set we have for you this month is
"Not So Ugly"

Welcome to the first day of the January Mark's Finest Papers hop!  I just get a kick out of sentiments like this one.  I am of the age where I can tease my friends about this now!  I got a little bit technique-y on you guys today.  I embossed my bones across my card front with black embossing powder.  (By the way, is it just me or does black embossing powder stick to everything regardless of whether or not you use an anti-static pad?)  Then I poured a little bit of bleach into a cup and painted my dog bones.  I finished with the embossed sentiment and a couple of rounded corners.

Don't forget to head onto Sue's blog for another look at Fantastic Dogs.  Thanks for stopping here and have a great day!

Oh Baby and Not So Ugly - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

It's time for a look at a couple of extra sets that Mark's Finest Papers is putting out this month.  This tag features four different stamps from the new set called Oh Baby.  I borrowed one line from a cute poem and then repeated the "Splash!" sentiment.  I stamped and colored the tub image and then stamped the bubbles behind it!  A little patterned paper, a jumbo eyelet and a couple of ribbons finish off my tag.

For this card, I stamped, colored and cut out my swan.  Isn't she a beauty with her rainbow feathers?  Then I die cut some waves and tucked here right into them.  I darkened my bottom waves a bit with the direct to paper method and my Versamark ink.  Finally, I tied on my fuchsia ribbon and stamped my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Friends and Recycling

Hello and Happy Monday!  I'm bringing you another Friends of Speedy TV challenge, number 55.  This week we focus on recycling.  My recycling almost feels like cheating, I love it so much.  My recycled element is the designer paper, which isn't really designer paper but the front notecard I received from a co-worker.  I think holding onto pretty papers, whether I have paid for them or not, is part of my paper crafting affliction.  With my "patterned paper" as my starting point, I had to find a way to embellish it and not cover it up.  I embossed a couple of butterflies from Daffodil Greetings on vellum and backed them with some light green paper.  Then I found a sentiment that fit into an oval punch.  I repeated the same sentiment as last week because I love it that much!

A quick tip on my oval punch:  Mark's Finest Papers clear stamps are perfect for laying over the outside of the punch in order to see if the sentiment fits!!

Now don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers generously offers a stamp set to one lucky participant.  Will it be you?  I hope so.  Today's stamp set is Bring on the Sun.

Thanks for stopping by!  Go on now and play along!

Using New Stuff

Hello again!  It's Tuesday and I'm seriously overdue for last week's Ways To Use It challenge.  This card has been sitting on my desk in pieces for four days.  Ah, the shame in it.  I wish I had a really good reason, but alas I do not.  So, I'll just tell you a little bit about my card.  Linda is our hostess this week and has challenged us to use New Things on this weeks projects.  I've been revamping my craft room and found a load of lovely treasures that I had not had time to use yet.  I chose my Country Charm Shapeabilities and got to work.  I die cut and embossed two jars, one in white and one in vellum.  I stamped and colored my butterfly on the back of the vellum and then layered the two together.  I used some strategically placed scor-tape (behind my twine and label) to keep my jars together.  A die cut and stamped label, some colored rhinestones and rounded corners finish off my card!  .

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a fabulous day!

Friends and Thanks

Hello again!  We're back to Monday and another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week we are focusing on thanks this week.  It's perfect timing for me as I have bunches of thank you notes to write for all the lovely gifts my family received.  For my card, I stamped my image in gray and then colored it.  I stamped my sentiment in black over the top.  I quickly matted it and popped it up over my card base.  On my card base, I did some simple scoring and layered a satin ribbon over it.  Easy-peasy, just the way I like it.

Now don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a prize for one random participant.  Today the stamp set up for grabs is called Be Wild & Free.  Here is a look at it!

Thanks for stopping!

Friends and New Years

Happy New Year's Eve!  It's time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge and today's theme is New Years.  I worked with a New Year's sentiment from a Mark's Finest Papers sentiment from Peaceful Nuthatch.  Then I added some potted Amaryllis.  I didn't force any bulbs this year, but I wish I had.  My paper Amaryllis will just have to do.  These images are from Amaryllis Definition.
There aren't too many extra details on this card.  I used my Copic multiliner to create a border around my stamped images and then layered a couple of ribbons under my main image.  I also went over the stamen (I'm not sure of my flower parts here) with a white gel pen.  I have the worst luck with white gel pens.  Can anyone recommend a good one?

Thanks for stopping by and have a safe New Year!

Free For Emboss Resist

Yep, it's winter break!  We are in between Christmas and New Years and that leaves me a bit of time to play!  So play I did.  I played around with today's Free For All challenge to use the emboss resist technique.  Looking at my card now, one could think that I embossed white on kraft card stock.  Oops!  What I did was clear emboss on white card stock and then sponge 3 browns over the top.  I repeated my pussy willows behind and found a patterned paper to go with.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm heading back to  my craft room to see if I can sort out some of the clutter in there.
