Friends and Halloween (10/28/13)

Happy Monday Friends!  I'm back with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge.  This week the challenge revolves around Halloween.  When Mark's Finest Papers released the What a Scream set in September, I knew that I wanted to make a card with the arching kitty in a graveyard.  For my card, I stamped in a fence from Spring Things and then sponged in a night sky.  I die cut and sponged some headstones and then stamped some of the phrases from What a Scream.  Then I stamped my kitty and sponged it a bit darker gray.  I assembled my graveyard scene and then finished off the bottom edge with some die cut and sponged grass.

Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers a free stamp set for one lucky participant.  This week, the stamp set being offered is called Halloween Selections.  How appropriate is that!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Details - Stamps: What a Scream (MFP), Spring Things (MFP); Paper: Neena Solar Crest White, Basic Gray, Handsome Hunter, Amuse Black; Ink: London Fog, Tuxedo Black, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder, Night of Navy, Versamark; Accessories: Spellbinders Nested Tombstones, sponge dauber, paper snips, Fresh Cut Grass die, stampin' dimensionals.

A Scor-Pal and Graphic 45 Stand Up Calendar

Hi, Toni here! It's my turn to share my Scor-Pal and Graphic 45 project. We are having a week long showing of beautiful paper crafts by both the Scor-Pal design team and the Graphic 45 design team.  I received some amazing papers and have barely scratched the surface of all that can be done with Graphic 45 products.  When I saw the Place in Time papers, I knew what I had to make!
For this project, you will need:
Place the 4 3/4" by 10" piece of card stock in your Scor-Pal with the 10" side along the top fence.  Score at 5" and 9 1/2".
Turn the card stock over and score at 7 1/4".
Crease the folds with the 5" score resulting in a mountain fold, the 7 1/4" score resulting in a valley fold and the 9 1/2" score resulting in another mountain fold.
Place the 4 3/4" by 6" piece of card stock in your Scor-Pal with the 6" side along the top fence.  Score at 5".
Crease the fold.
Line the glue tabs with Scor-Tape.  On the 10" piece, line the 1/2" tab and on the 6" piece, line the 1" tab.
Remove the backing from your Scor-Tape and adhere together, as shown, to create your calendar stand.
Carefully trim out small monthly calendars from the Calendar Foundation designer paper in the Graphic 45 Place in Time pad.
Starting with December on the bottom, line the top of the back of November with Scor-Tape.
Remove the backing of the Scor-Tape and remove some of the stickiness by placing the adhesive against some fabric and removing.  (I use what I am wearing, either a cotton top or some denim).  Carefully place the November calendar on top of the December calendar.
Repeat with the remaining months until you have a stack with January on top.  (I moved pretty slowly through this part so that I didn't get my months out of order.)
Embellish your calendar as desired.  I used the August Cut-Aparts sheet from the Graphic 45 Place in Time line.  I trimmed out the striped background to 4/12" by 4 3/4" and mounted it on my stand up calendar.  Then I trimmed out the sunflower border and created a scalloped edge for the top and bottom borders.  I finished my calendar with brown organza bow.

Here's another look at the finished product.  Thanks for joining me today!
Details - Paper: Graphic 45 Place in Time designer paper, Early Espresso; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, Scalloped Border punch, brown organza ribbon, glue dot.

Friends and Fall or Harvest

Good Monday morning!  We are in the thick of Fall around here.  The temperatures have dropped and we have a rainbow of leaves everywhere you look!  Lately, I have been battling fog on my way to work.  I took my daughter to a Harvest Festival Friday night and could barely navigate home due to the thick fog.  In honor of this week's challenge, I broke out Autumn Splendor.  I love the festive pumpkin and owl combination. I colored in some wispy grass and then stamped some bare branches overhead, because that is where we are headed.  My bare branches come from Tree Greetings.  A bit of generation stamping provides some variation in color and sponging fills in the bare edges on the top and bottom.
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set for one lucky participant.  This week set is called Corn Ears
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week!

Friends and Tags (or Banners)

It's Monday and time again for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge!  This week we are all using tags or banners.  Of course, I had to use that uber-versatile tag image from Holiday Tag.  I swear, I could use it on every project!  Here, I did some masking with an apple image from the recently released set called Fall Apples.  I left my mask over my apples and then stamped the text image from the same set over the top.  I reached for another new release, Huge Blooms, to find my thank you sentiment!  I place this all on top of a card base that I embossed with a Spellbinders shapeabilities expandable pattern.  Then I sprayed some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz, for a subtle sparkle.  Some ribbon/twine and rounded corners finish my card!
Mark's Finest Papers offers a stamp set as a prize for one lucky participant and this week the set is Not So Ugly.  Check it out:
I hope you make time to play along with us this week!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

This new set brings to me some of my favorite images associated with Fall.  I think I mentioned the apple orchard that we visited last Saturday.  It's about 5 minutes from my house.  I changed schools this year and now I travel 10 minutes "up river", past this farm, to my my new job.  On Wednesday morning, the sun was out and shining upon the hills.  They were filled with trees turning a variety of spectacular colors.  I was soooo present that morning and was struck by the beauty of the environment and the season!  I have the picture in my mind...I just wish I could show you.  Alas, I did not get my phone out to shoot the scene as I was driving.

Thanks for coming by today!  I hope your day is fabulous.

I think this is the set I was most excited about for this month.  I love large line art flowers!  You can do so many things with them.  One of my favorite techniques is emboss resist and this set is perfect for the technique.  I used a white card base on the first and a colored card base for my second.  Which color combination do you prefer?

Thanks for stopping by!

While this set has some really great panda images, I chose to go my familiar clean and simple route.  I stamped the circular bamboo image in one corner of a piece of rectangular card stock.  I masked a sentiment to read only part of the original and stamped it in the opposite corner.  I colored my bamboo and drew in a thin black line with a Copic Multiliner.  I added a few mats and popped the whole thing off the card base.

Clean and simple, quick and easy!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Mmmhmmm!  That's right, we have turkeys!!  This little turkey just begged to be stamped, colored and cut out multiple times.  I happily obliged and popped the turkey's body up on the feathers.  Then I popped up the wings and the wattle!  Some yummy fall themed patterned paper helps me out with my design!  Let's not forget that fabulous font.

No turkeys here on the hobby farm any longer.  We used to have them mixed in with the chickens,  Let me tell you that baby turkeys, or poults, as they are more properly named, are the cutest little birds.  Alas, our last turkey took flight after a scare by one of the dogs.  Now we are left with our sweet little chickens (Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpingtons & Araucanas).

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!

Works of Art & Wise Men - A Mark's Finest Papers Bonus

I have one extra card for you today.  My other two samples are on the Mark's Finest Papers blog.  This sample uses the new set called Works of Art.  I often remind my students not to scribble when they color.   So today as I scribbled this background, I thought of them.   There is an exception to every rule. I used glossy paper and the ink seemed to float and blend together.   I felt the sentiment was just right for this colored background.

Friends and Anniversaries

Good Monday morning to you!  Today, I am here with a new Friends of Speedy TV challenge, an anniversary card!  I was really feeling the Fall season upon us and pulled colors to go with Fall from one of my favorite coffee cups.  I stamped the dotted ric rac image from Flamingos on Vacation and the sentiment from Winter Crocus.  When I had finished all my stamping, my card just needed a bit more.  That's when I dug out some neutral colored brads.  I used a couple different sized brads placed randomly around my sentiment to finish my card.
Where I live, Fall is truly upon us!  My husband starting cleaning out the garden this weekend.  He cut some of the cornstalks and tied them up for the front door of our house and my mother-in-law's home next door.  I picked the rest of the apples from our tree, so that we could have them before the birds finish them.  The horses next door were thrilled to have the dozen or so apples that the birds had already started on.  This weekend was also the Festival of Family Farms.  Several farms in our community open up for tours and tastings and such one weekend a year.  It's all advertised and promoted.  My husband stopped by a farm less than 5 minutes from our home and tasted their wines with a friend.  This particular farm produces wines and apples.  A side product they also produce is honey from the bees they keep to pollinate their apples.  My hubby drug me back to get a bottle of wine and some honey.  We have heard that local honey is supposed to help with allergies.  My allergies were terrible this year and I am willing to try most anything.

Enough about me, let's get back to Mark's Finest Papers!  One lucky participant in this week's Anniversary Card challenge will take home a great set, Lily of the Valley.  I adore the font in this set!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
