Using Strips!

Today's card is for the Ways To Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers. Sabrina is our challenge hostess and she decided to go with a theme of strips. There are so many things that you can do to meet this challenge. She gave a long list of techniques to choose from. Do check it out.

My card, of course, uses none of them. Sorry Sabrina! I did created a striped with strips type of background to fill the negative space of my die cut star. Then I embossed my sentiment on a strip of vellum! I stamped my top layer with a couple of different background stamps for interest. I felt like my card needed just a bit more. I messed with some sequins and rhinestones and then finally settled on edging the die cut negative and the outside of the square layer with a Sakura clear star gel pen. It's subtle, but it works for me.

Thanks for looking!

Monday & Tuesday's Challenges

I'm always wishing I had more time to play along with the Splitcoaststampers challenges. While I didn't play on the actual day for Monday's CAS challenge.  I did play along this week.  The theme was summer and I had these great stickers in my stash.  Pineapples are the taste of summer for me!
I did play on the same day for the color challenge.  The colors were Elegant Eggplant, Soft Sky and Watermelon Wonder. I didn't have the watermelon color in my stash, so I found a substitute. I played around with some Copic markers to get the balloons to look right. I had fun with it, but I think I need a little more practice.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

"Pinspired" again!

Hello crafty friends!  I'm here again with another Pinspired post for the Scor-Pal blog.  I found this pin for a washi tape storage box on the Scor-Pal Pinterest Board.  I got to thinking about the mess of washi tapes that I had sitting on my shelf and decided that practical was the way for me to go this month.
For this project, you will need:

  • Scor-Pal
  • Scor-Tape
  • One 6" x 12" piece of double-sided patterned paper
  • Paper snips
  • Ribbon and extra paper to embellish
Place the 6" x 12" piece of patterned paper with the 12" side along the fence.  Make sure the pattern that you want on the outside of the box is facing up. Score at 1" and 11".
Turn your patterned paper so that the 6" side of the paper is along the fence.  Score at 1", 2", 4" and 5".
Burnish all the folds and cut tabs on my 6 inches up to the score line.
Turn the paper over and line the second and fourth segments with Scor-tape from tab to tab. Remove adhesive backing and fold down.
Line the center tabs on both ends with Scor-tape. Remove adhesive backing and secure tabs on each side to create corners, and finally, your box.
Embellish your box as desired.  I die cut and layered a  couple of stars and popped them up on the front of my box.  I also cut small slits in the front of the box and slide ribbon through it.
Voila!  A washi storage box to clean up my shelf.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Details -  Paper: Fancy Pants Hopscotch dp, Black Licorice (MFT); Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, paper snips; Spellbinders Star Nestabilities, star punch, stampin' dimensionals, craft knife, black organdy ribbon

If you have made it this far, I have before and after shots for you.  Thanks to all you readers who encouraged me to clean up my shelf.  Notice all the washi tape that is just in piles and not very accessible in this before picture.
Here is the after picture.  My washi tape is much easier to get to now.  You will notice that I still have tapes behind my new box.  I'll have to whip up another one for the rest of my tapes.  You will see that my Scor-tape (in 3 different sizes) is always on the lower shelf where I can reach it!  Love that stuff!

Using The Sea

Cathy is today's Ways To Use It challenge hostess and she has chosen "Sea Worthy" as our theme.  For my sea worthy creation, I chose the sand dollar.  I love this image and the sentiment. I did a lot of sponging and masking to create my sand and sea.  It also helped that one of the sets that I used had a sand stamp.  I used three different colors of ink to get my sand just so.

I think it might be hard to tell from this angle, but I did round out my sand dollar.  I turned it upside down on a foam pad and used the rounded end of a pen cap like a stylus.  Moving in an elliptical fashion I created the "hump" where the pearl is on the sand dollar.

Thanks for looking!

Details - Stamp: Sand Dollar (MFP), Gifts from the Sea (GKD); Paper: Confetti White, Perfect Plum, Textured Off White; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Espresso Truffle, London Fog, Almost Amethyst, Perfect Plum, Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Pool Party, Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Pacific Point; Accessories: Copic Markers, paper snips, stampin' sponge, Kaisercraft pearls, stampin' dimensionals.

Using Doodles

Doodling is not my forte.  However, I did find a pin on Pinterest that inspired me and I created this little number.  I had the watercolor base left over from Sabrina's Ways to Use tea or T challenge.  I had painted a rectangular shape on water color paper and it was left over on my desk.

For this challenge, I doodled around the edge of the rectangle and then stamped a sentiment and some flowers inside of it.  I followed that up with sponging and distressing.  A bit of linen thread, wrapped and tied in a bow, finishes it off.

Thanks for looking!

Details - Stamps: French Foliage, Pursuit of Happiness, Looks Like Spring, Both Way Blossoms; Paper: Water color paper, Black Licorice (MFT); Ink: Rich Cocoa, Sahara Sand, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Olive; Accessories: water brush, post it, linen thread, MM distressing tool, glue dot, foam tape, Copic Multiliner, Sakura clear star gel pen, sponge dauber.

Halfway Through Scor-Pal's June More Than One Score Challenge

Hello again!  I'm back with a reminder about June's More Than One Score Challenge.  This month's theme is Ribbon, Lace and Trim.  It is also now time for you to see a great tutorial by Patti.  She has made a sweet gate fold card with a ribbon closure.  You can see her tutorial here.
Since I don't like to have you visit without something new to see, I whipped up this little box with a ribbon closure.  Of course, Father's Day is just a few days away and so I made that my theme.  This is a 2, 5, 7, 10 box.  It's really quite simple with 6 scores, 4 cuts and 2 cut away sections.  Some of the fabulous Scor-Tape adheres it all together.  A hole punch and ribbon keep the lid down.

Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: All Year Cheer II (SU); Paper: Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, DCWV dp; Ink: Versamark; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, white embossing powder, heat tool, Circle Nestabilities, corner chomper, taffeta ribbon, stampin' dimensionals, paper snips, crop-a-dile.

Ways To Use Duct Tape

I'm back with a Ways To Use It challenge sample for this week's challenge.  Carla is our hostess and she has chosen duct tape in honor of Father's Day.  It's coming.  Are you ready?

You have probably guessed that my duct tape is on the blade of the saw.  I stamped my saw on duct tape. Then I trimmed out the saw.  I stamped the saw again, trimmed out the handle and then attached it to the blade with mini brads.

I embossed a pieced of card stock, die cut it and then ran a craft pad over the top to simulate wood grain. I mounted my saw and sentiment over the top.  I find that less is more when it comes to masculine cards.

Details - Stamps: Totally Tool (SU); Paper: Black (Amuse), Early Espresso, Whisper White; Ink: StazOn Black, Tuxedo Black, Vanilla Craft; Accessories: Paper snips, mini brads, Copic multiliner, Wood grain embossing folder, Spellbinders labels 8, stampin' dimensionals.

Using Pearls

I have been the hostess this week for the Ways To Use It challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  You see, my challenge went live on June 1st and pearls are the gemstone for the month of June.  Thus, I challenged crafters to use pearls on their projects.  It's an amazing gallery...you really should have a peek!

I had the worst migraine when I was making this.  Ugh!  Please pardon my crooked washi and sentiment.  It was the best this girl could do at the time!  You know, I will be working ahead this week!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Details - Stamps: Happy Moments(SU); Paper: Whisper White, Black Licorice (MFT); Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: water color pencils, aqua painters, Recollection pearls, washi tape, PTI Linen & Canvas impression plate, stampin' dimensionals.

June More Than One Score Challenge- Ribbon, Lace or Trim

Hello Crafty Friends!  It's June 1st and the Scor-Pal team is back with another challenge for you. This month's More Than One Score theme is ribbon, lace or trim.  My project has a ribbon closure. There are many ways to incorporate these things. Be sure to check out what the other design team members on the Scor-Pal Team have created.
I made an A2 sized card box.  The added bonus is that it looks like a book with a fun ribbon closure.  Really, you don't have to put cards in it.  You could also place a small gift inside and have a darling presentation for it.
Here's a bit more of a side view that shows the book design.  I used patterned paper on the spine of my box as well as the inside edges of the box.  It went together so easily and is sturdy too.  The combination of Scor-tape and layers of matted paper make it strong!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
