Friends and Lace and Pearls (07/28/14)

Good Monday morning to you!  Today's Friends of Speedy TV challenge is all about lace and pearls.  That got me thinking about royalty and the princess party my daughter attended yesterday.  Okay, it was really a bridal shower, but the hostess had the presence of mind to make it really fun for the little girls by incorporating a princess party of sorts.  We have a large family and quite a few of the young female cousins don't know each other well.  The hostess wanted to create friendship, family bonds and memories and make the upcoming wedding even more fun for these little girls.   I remember the flock of little girls around me when I was a bride and knew that my daughter would want to treat the bride-to-be the same way.  I created a gift card holder for my little princess to present to the queen and the You May Bow set worked out perfectly here.  I stamped the "Queen for the Day" sentiment on the spine and used the crown image on the front of the book.

Inside, I stamped another sentiment and the gift card fits perfectly!  This little gift card holder would also fit some candies if one was so inclined.  I'm quite pleased with the finished product and so is my daughter.  It was also one way for me to show the bride that I am excited and happy for her even though I am not attending the shower.
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers generously offers a stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week is Year of the Horse.  Here is a look at this set:

Hang In There Reject

Good Morning!  I wanted to share a little project with you that I made for a Paper Crafts call and...you got it, it was rejected.  Now, to be honest, I am not really broken up about it.  I'm sure that they get thousands of submissions and have to chose exactly what is working for the issue that they are putting together.  I adore these little baskets and have made a couple of them.  Like most 3-D projects, they are not as hard as they look!

With a few scores and a few snips, some punches, scor-tape and brads, this little treasure comes together in a jiffy!  Plus, I used a darling Verve set on this project!  I adore Verve fonts!!!

Thanks for looking and have a fabulous day!

Details - Stamps: Always On My Mind (Verve); Paper: Fancy Pants Designs Hopscotch dp, Very Vanilla; Ink: Basic Gray; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, paper snips, Corner chomper, circle punches, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Stardust Stickles, brads, gold thread, stampin' dimensionals.

Friends and Shapes (7/21/14)

Good Monday morning!  I am back with another Friends of Speedy TV challenge for you.  Today, we are making shaped cards.  I couldn't resist this lily again.  I colored it like a Stargazer Lily and chose my Spellbinders Star dies for my shape.  I die cut two stars and made a quick little score horizontally across the top point of the star.  Beyond that, I adhered the two dies together with a tiny piece of Scor-Tape to create my card base.

Of course, my lily image comes from the Tiger Lily set and my sentiment comes from a mini set called Yikes A Mouse.  I'm so glad I dug that one out.  It's time for me to play with it some more.  Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a free stamp set to one lucky participant.  This week that stamp set is Hoppy Easter.  Take a look at it here:
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful start to the week!

More Than One Score To Date

Whew!  This has been a great weekend for getting caught up!  I have a couple of projects to show you today.  Scor-Pal runs monthly challenges to make a project with more than one score, following a particular theme.  The theme for May was to include a stamped image and I made this tent card.
I'm still experimenting with how I best like to close it up on the bottom, but I think this turned out marvelously!  Here is a view from the side.
The month of July has a new theme and that is to create a project with "More Than One Score" in a patriotic way or with the colors of your country.  I made this mini notepad in red, white and blue!
Here you can see how I decorated the top of my note pad.
In this picture, you can see the red, white and blue inserted pages!  The "glue" holding together my note pad is over my trusty Scor-tape.  Scor-tape is great for everything!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope your weekend was as productive as mine!

Details - Azalea Tent Card - Stamps: Azalea (Power Poppy); Paper: Whisper White, Choice Snow White (TE), Black Licorice (MFT), Studio G dp; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-tape, Spellbinders Nestabilities, stampin' dimensionals, Copic Markers, circle punches, Sakura clear star gel pen, silver cording.  Music Score Note Pad - Stamps: Just a Note (MFP); Paper: Choice Snow White, Bashful Blue, Unknown red, Recollections Pin Dot dp; Ink: Bashful Blue, Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Scor-Pal, Scor-tape, two way glue pen, Tiny Twinkles (TE).

Ways To Use It Gone By

I've missed out on posting a couple of cards from June when I hosted the Ways To Use It challenge.  My challenge here was for crafters to use crayons on their card somehow.  I did one of my all time favorite techniques, emboss resist.  I used both white and yellow crayons to color my daisy and then brayered the blue ink over the top!
This challenge was all about feathers!  Feathers are pretty trendy right now. When I am the challenge hostess, I like to pick challenges that most can participate in, so I give a wide berth to interpreting my challenge.  This card was fun to create with a couple of different background stamps and some fun die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Friends and Catching Up

It seems that I might have gotten a bit off track and not blogged about a couple of challenge cards!  This beauty was for a Friends of Speedy TV challenge to create a sympathy card.  I just really love the sentiment and I think it speaks to the need one has when they reach for a sympathy card.  When I made this card, I stamped and colored it first.  Then I embossed straight over the top, filling in the gaps of the image with a Versamark pen so that my entire butterfly shines.. Then I sponged around the image and the sentiment in a soft blue green color.
This set of note cards comes from the Friends of Speedy TV challenge to create just that, a set of note cards.  My set also included a yellow polka dotted card, but I couldn't make the photo work out right.  There were some really beautiful sets created, you will want to follow the link and check them out!

Thanks for stopping by as I catch up a bit!  have a wonderful weekend!

With the Sun & Moon set, I felt an urge to create a wall hanging.  I thought about tile, but my girl is a busy girl and would likely get it down from time to time.  I decided paper was a safer bet for my household.  As it turns out, I had the perfectly colored purple rhinestones in my collection to go with my moon!
Heavenly Harmony is up next.  I fussy cut this image three times in three different colors.  It was time consuming but great fun.  I only colored my layers just a teeny bit and added sparkle to the small stars with my Sakura Clear Star gel pen.

Snowflakes in July?  Why not!  These are some beautiful flakes and I love how they look when layered.  I can't wait to try these in a multitude of colors.  The vertical sentiment is unique here too!  I made this while my daughter and her friend were playing in her room across the hall from me.  They both came in and told me that my snowflakes needed something.  They began twirling my embellishment holder and came up with these large Recollection rhinestones.  They fit perfectly!  Every crafter needs that kind of help!

Oh my goodness, did I have fun with these new florals!  I love florals and these are fabulous!  I played with the coneflowers and overlapped them a bit.  Coloring them was super fun and easy.  It's hard to see but I added a touch of sparkle to the petals to make my heart happy!
I'm not really an "orange" girl but when I was designing this card the color jumped out at me.  I used one of my favorite techniques as well, emboss resist.  I think this gorgeous line art rose is perfect for the technique.  I'll bet we see some amazing watercolor with this image too!

This is a great set to kick off the July blog hop for Mark's Finest Papers.  I searched high and low through my stash for some origami paper, but alas I could not find any.  I found this cool patterned paper with a gold print on it.  I cut a tiny slit in my cookie to allow my fortune to extend out of the cookie.  It's a simple design, but that's me...a simple girl!

Friends and Turquoise and Orange

Good Monday Morning!  Whew, that was a long blogging break but I'm back.  It seems that as soon as school let out, I needed a break from most everything.  I have quite a bit in store for you for the next couple of weeks.  I'll start today off with the latest Friends of Speedy TV challenge to create a project with turquoise and orange.  This Tiger Lily stamp set fit the bill for me.  I was inspired by the lily that is growing in my own garden this year.  My daughter studied lilies with her class as part of their science curriculum and brought a plant home just after Mother's Day.  We found it a home in one of the color spots of our vegetable garden.  Just yesterday, it finally bloomed.  It's a beautiful yellow.
Let's not forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a stamp set for one lucky participant and this week the set is called Halloween Selections.  Check it out:
