Ways To Use Aussie Objects

Happy Sunday! I'm sitting up on the mountain and fiddling wIth my phone.   I thought I would try and share my card from Thursday's Ways To Use It  challenge.

Sabrina, our hostess, recognized Thursday as Australia Day and called for all things Aussie in the gallery. If you didn't have any Aussie objects, then you could turn something upside down in honor of the Land Down Under.

For the longest time, I figured I would have to turn an object upside down until I remembered this kangaroo.  Then I turned him into my Valentine's Day helper!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great finish to your weekend.

Friends of Flourishes & CAS

Hello and Happy Saturday!  I get to bring you this week’s Friends of Flourishes theme.  I have chosen the Clean and Simple style as our focus.  Today, you will be treated to some beautiful Flourishes images unencumbered by the usual extras.
My card shows off the Black-capped Chickadee from the Flourishes set called Winter Birds.  Because our theme is clean and simple, there are only a few details to note.  I doodled around the chickadee and then accented the left had side of the image with mini brads.  Finally, I mounted my focal image on an embossed card base.
The detailed birds in this set penned by Beverly Cole are absolutely marvelous.  The names of the birds are also included in an elegant script.  They make a perfect pairing and work well with the clean and simple style.

The Flourishes blog and online store are currently being revamped.  Check back soon to see its transformation.  Now, it's time to visit the Friends of Flourishes and see what they have created in my favorite crafting style:  Davi, GloriaKrenShirleyToniVickie.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Details – Stamps: Winter Birds (Flourishes); Paper: White, Black, Walnut Collection (Flourishes); Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Copic Markers, white gel pen, Copic multiliner, impression plate, mini brads, dimensional adhesive.

Friends of Flourishes & Love Makes The World Go 'Round

Good morning!  Today, we welcome another Friends of Flourishes challenge offered up by my wonderful teammate, Shirley.  She has chosen the theme of "Love Makes The World Go 'Round".  It coincides perfectly with the new release by Flourishes.  I opted for the set called Florentine Frame With Quote.
The frame has clean lines with elegant flourishes in each corner.  It's right up my style alley.  I opted to use the frame horizontally and then trimmed a couple of rectangles to fit inside the frame.  I added a simple, yet elegant statement to top my Valentine's paper.  A few Copic-colored rhinestone hearts in strategic places finish my card.

The rest of the Design Team has beautiful creations for you as well.  Be sure to stop by and see them! Follow these links to see the rest of the design team:

Friends of Flourishes & Shimmer And Shine

Good morning! Today the Friends of Flourishes are sharing another Design Team challenge and our response to it. The hostess for today is Kren and she has chosen Shimmer and Shine. It's a lovely theme for a new year.  I decided to go with a beautiful floral set called Camellia Love.
When I was in grade school, our family had two large camellia bushes on either side of our front door. My sister and I used to pluck the leaves and pretend that they were dollars in our playhouse. I wonder if she remembers that also. My shimmer and shine may be hard to see on my card, but I promise it is there. I clear embossed the leaves of the camellia because I remember those leaves having an amazing gloss. I also colored over my petals with a shimmery gel pen. I made my own background by using silver and pink spray ink over a die cut mask.

VSN Reprise

VSN, or Virtual Stamp Night, on Splitcoaststampers is a challenge filled weekend.  I find that I dig deep into my stash just to find the right stamps and papers.  I really enjoy it and home chores typically get in the way of me being able to complete all the challenges.  Here are a few of the cards that I made from the latest VSN.
The card above is from a challenge called Christmas Cookies.  You guessed it, the challenge was about getting Christmas Cookies on your project.  That was no problem for me as I had this image already colored and trimmed out on my desk from an "almost project" a few weeks ago.
This card was for a challenge called The Christmas Song.  The challenge was to use something on your card from the lyrics of the song by the same name.  I used mistletoe on my card for the line that starts "Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe".  Simple scoring set off the bottom border of mistletoe.
This last card is from a challenge called Home Alone.  The object here was to make a clean and simple card with one image and one embellishment.  I may have fudged a little on this one.  I tried to just get away with the washi tape as my one embellishment, but it looked too plain.  I colored an adhesive backed rhinestone heart with a Copic marker and added it to my sentiment.  After that, it felt done.

I think the next VSN should be in a few months. I know that I will be playing along and I hope that you will too.

Details - Christmas Cookies - Stamps: Must Be Santa (Flourishes), A Season of Celebrations (Flourishes); Paper: Smooth White, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White; Ink: Ruby Red; Accessories: Colored pencils, square punch, Scalloped square Nestabilities, paper snips and stampin' dimensionals.
Mistletoe - Stamps: Meet Me Under the Mistletoe (Flourishes); Paper: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke; Ink: Espresso Truffle, Picket Fence; Accessories: Copic & Touch Twin markers, paper snips, Sakura clear star gel pen, stampin' dimensionals.
Because I Care - Stamps: Because I Care (SU); Paper: Smooth White; Ink: Soft Suede; Accessories: Recollections heart gem, Sweet Sadie washi tape, Copic marker.
