Scor-Pal and Simple Stories Week

Are all you crafty people ready for another fun cross promotional week between Scor-Pal and Simple Stories?  Me too!  I get to help kick it off this time around.  Check out my tutorial on the Scor-Pal blog for my main project.  Just below, you can see a little tiny peek at what I have on the company blog.  Don't forget to see what the Simple Stories Designers have created for you.

Since you are here, take a look at another project I made with the Simple Stories Documented Collection.  I made a Luminaria following the tutorial found on Splitcoaststampers.

For this project, you will need:
  • One 5 1/2" x 10 3/8" piece of card stock or patterned paper
  • Four 2 3/8" x 3 7/8" pieces of transparency, acetate or vellum
  • Scor-Pal
  • Scor-Tape
  • Die cutting tool
  • paper snips
  • Embellishments, as desired
Place the 10 3/8" side of the patterned paper (desired design up) against the top fence of your Scor-Pal. Score at 2 1/2", 5", 7 1/2" and 10".  I used a piece of Simple Stories Documented Simple Basics Designer Card Stock
Place the 5 1/2" side of the patterned paper against the top fence and score at 1 1/2".
Burnish all of your folds.
Cut out the small rectangle on the bottom right hand side of the paper, as shown below.
Cut on the 2 1/2", 5" and 7 1/2" score lines up to the 1 1/2" horizontal score lines.  I like to trim mine on a bit of an angle.

Die cut windows into each panel.  By the way, the patterned paper I chose, Damask/Flourish, had a grid pattern on the back.
Line the edges of each panel with Scor-Tape.
Remove the backing from the adhesive and adhere the transparency.  I used the Simple Stories Documented Transparency Photo Overlays for my windows.

Line the 3/8" tab with Scor-Tape

Remove the backing from the adhesive and attach the sides for form a basic box shape.

Place two strips of Scor-Tape on the outside of two opposite tabs and attach them as shown below.

Remove backing from the remaining three strips of Scor-Tape and adhere another tab down.

Place one strip of Scor-Tape on the inside of the remaining tab.

Remove the backing from the adhesive and finish the bottom of the box.  Embellish as desired.

I used a scalloped border punch to create the narrow scalloped edges at top and bottom with some matching Simple Stories Documented Designer Card Stock.  Then I added some Documented Fundamental Card Stock Stickers and a Documented Expression Card Stock Sticker.  I sandwiched some gold cording between two star stickers to create a fun embellishment.  Finally, you can light up your luminaria with a battery operated tea light.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.  Be sure to stop by the Scor-Pal blog and the Simple Stories blog for more amazing projects all week long.
