Friends in My Thoughts

Hey there and happy Monday!  I'm back with the rest of the Friends of Speedy TV for this weeks' challenge.  We are making cards for in honor of Memorial Day.  In my mind, Memorial Day honors those we have lost during their service to our country and it is a time to remember those in our lives we have lost.  Obviously, I can't send a card to those who are gone from me...but I can make a card with those folks in mind.  It was quite therapeutic to do so, as well.  I did some reverse masking to get the job done today.  I trimmed my mask to the A2 size and then die cut a 2 inch square (for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge) from the mask.  I used some removable adhesive around the outside of the square, applied my mask and created my focal point.  Afterwards, I removed my mask and bits of leftover adhesive and then stamped my sentiment.

I hope you are able to play along and throw your hat into the ring for this week's prize.  The stamp set you can win is called Hello Trucks

I'm happy to start a new week.  I am hoping it will head back to normal.  I was gone for 3 1/2 days last week due to my hubby's surgery, my daughter's fever and a training at work.  Combine that with transporting my girlfriend's son (which I totally don't mind) and orchestrating a birthday party, makes for a hairy week.  I'm a creature of habit, pattern and ritual, so I have been a bit out of sorts.  I'm hoping for an improvement in my mojo and a bit more creative time.  I'll leave you with a picture of the newly six year old in my house.  Thanks for stopping by!

Not Using Red or Pink

It's Thursday again and time to Use It over on Splitcoaststampers.  Hannah is our challenge hostess today and she wants us to make a Valentine without using red or pink.  Can do!  I dipped into some older designer paper I have hanging about in my craft room and got to die cuting, embossing and punching!  There just isn't much else going on for this little number.

I think I'll keep this short and sweet as I am up too late for a girl who has to work in the morning!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sew Beautiful

"Sew Beautiful" is the name of today's Ways To Use It challenge hostessed by the fabulous Hannah!  She has challenged us to use stitching on our cards.  With preparation for my hubby's big trip, I have been busy and now am tired.  As much as I wanted to hand stitch these cute little papers together, I went faux!  I normally do white stitching, but went with black today.  I really like the look of the black mats and accents.  I'm not sure why I don't think to do it more, but I think I will be trying from here on out.  It really seems to pop.  Speaking of popping, the head of the flower is popped up off my page.  I realize it's hard to tell, but that isn't shading around the blossom, it is shadow.  I also glitzed up my flower center with some yellow Stickles today too.

I borrowed today's sketch from the ladies at the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club.   I took a little artistic license and moved my blossom in a bit to work with my image.

It's chilly today so this little flower gives me hope for a nice warm spring.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A Case of Amy

I had hoped to get this posted yesterday, but alas it didn't happen!  I was a wee bit too busy at work and then was more than happy to head out to girl's night for some super-yum chicken tacos and cupcakes!  The white wine was delish too!  Oops, I got a little carried away about my yesterday and forgot to mention this little old card I have pictured.  This is the card I mad for Verve September Diva Dare.  The challenge was to case-a diva and I let my girl pick the Diva.  She picked Amy Sheffer and I picked this card that Amy made.  I also worked in a Hope You Can Cling To challenge hostessed by Lori.  I used some gigantic bling by my own standards.

Thanks for stopping by!

One Layer Christmas

Poppin' pastels is a technique that I like a lot, but hardly ever do.  I gave it a try and I really do like it.  I did spray a sealant over my card and it gave it a bit of a grainy feel.  Kind of strange, but I will see how the chalking holds up now.

This card is for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge to use trees.  I had this rather large stamp and wanted to try it.  To keep it CAS, I just scored 1/4" from the top and bottom.  No other embellishments were needed.

Thanks for stopping by!
