Dreams Kept

Oh boy, this was one of the last cards I made for VSN, Virtual Stamp Night, this go round!  I finished all the challenges last night.  I can't remember if I have ever done that and I'm pretty proud.  Of course, the timing of VSN was perfect for me.  VSN kicked off on the Friday that my Spring Break started, so I didn't have to work at all.

This card was made for Brenda's challenge to be inspired by the lyrics of Audition: The Fools Who Dream, a song from La La Land.  There was plenty to work with in the lyrics of the song.  I pulled from the chorus for my own card.   Since VSN challenges are time limited (projects must be completed in less than an hour), I used a Mojo Monday sketch.
I've got one day left of my Spring Break, so I guess I will use that to get myself organized and ready to go back to school.  It's the big push to the end of the school year, filled with state testing and field trips! Have a wonderful finish to your weekend.

Friends of Flourishes, Purple and Green

Hello and Happy Saturday! My team member, Davi, brings you this week’s Friends of Flourishes theme. This week's challenge is about a color combination, purple and green.  I don't know if Davi knew it or not, but those are my two favorite colors.
When my mother was in the hospital, several weeks ago, I took stamped images and colored them.  This beautiful rose from the set named Endearing Rose has been sitting on my desk waiting for the right card. Davi's challenge presented just the right call for this image!
The rest of my team has created beautiful projects for your viewing pleasure.  Be sure to visit them:  Davi, GloriaKrenShirleyToni (you are here) and Vickie.  While you are visiting, you might also want to see the six newly released stamp sets from Flourishes, lc. offered this week.  Thanks for stopping by!

Details - Stamps: Endearing Rose (Flourishes,lc.), Small Words of Love and Kindness (Flourishes,lc.); Paper: Watercolor Paper, New Violet Collection (Flourishes,lc.), White; Ink: Tuxedo Black, River Rock, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke; Accessories: Copic Markers, Baby wipes, bone folder, paper snips, sponge dauber.

VSN Animal Crossing

VSN, or virtual stamp night, is on at Splitcoaststampers!  Five challenges were released on Friday night and there were ten challenges offered up yesterday. The theme for VSN is April Fools.  Today, I am sharing the card I completed for Sally's VSN challenge called Animal Crossing.  Her thoughts are that April Fools is about having fun, so she asked the age old question, "Why did the chicken cross the road?".

Here is my chick for the chicken crossing challenge.  I nabbed the current Mojo Monday sketch to get me going.  VSN has a time limit and sketches help me stay under that limit. As it was I think I finished this one in 59 minutes.  Would you look at that bow?  It looks like my practice is paying off as bows have never been my strong suit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Details - Stamps: Chicks Rule (Verve); Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Momenta dp; Ink: Tuxedo Black; Accessories: Circle punch, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Heart Quartet die (Verve), Old Olive satin ribbon, glue dots, stampin' dimensionals, scor-tape.

VSN Reprise

VSN, or Virtual Stamp Night, on Splitcoaststampers is a challenge filled weekend.  I find that I dig deep into my stash just to find the right stamps and papers.  I really enjoy it and home chores typically get in the way of me being able to complete all the challenges.  Here are a few of the cards that I made from the latest VSN.
The card above is from a challenge called Christmas Cookies.  You guessed it, the challenge was about getting Christmas Cookies on your project.  That was no problem for me as I had this image already colored and trimmed out on my desk from an "almost project" a few weeks ago.
This card was for a challenge called The Christmas Song.  The challenge was to use something on your card from the lyrics of the song by the same name.  I used mistletoe on my card for the line that starts "Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe".  Simple scoring set off the bottom border of mistletoe.
This last card is from a challenge called Home Alone.  The object here was to make a clean and simple card with one image and one embellishment.  I may have fudged a little on this one.  I tried to just get away with the washi tape as my one embellishment, but it looked too plain.  I colored an adhesive backed rhinestone heart with a Copic marker and added it to my sentiment.  After that, it felt done.

I think the next VSN should be in a few months. I know that I will be playing along and I hope that you will too.

Details - Christmas Cookies - Stamps: Must Be Santa (Flourishes), A Season of Celebrations (Flourishes); Paper: Smooth White, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White; Ink: Ruby Red; Accessories: Colored pencils, square punch, Scalloped square Nestabilities, paper snips and stampin' dimensionals.
Mistletoe - Stamps: Meet Me Under the Mistletoe (Flourishes); Paper: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke; Ink: Espresso Truffle, Picket Fence; Accessories: Copic & Touch Twin markers, paper snips, Sakura clear star gel pen, stampin' dimensionals.
Because I Care - Stamps: Because I Care (SU); Paper: Smooth White; Ink: Soft Suede; Accessories: Recollections heart gem, Sweet Sadie washi tape, Copic marker.

VSN & Santa

I had a chance to play along with VSN this weekend. Robin challenged crafter's to make a card that showed one of their strongest memories of Christmas.  I have a vivid memory of Santa honking my bicycle horn when I was about 5 or 6 years old.  Even though I know that was years ago, I can still recall that memory today.

Just a quick post for today, have a wonderful day!

Details- Stamps: Must Be Santa (Flourishes); Paper:Whisper White (SU), Unknown SU blue, Black Licorice (MFT), Recollections Southern Charm dp; Accessories: Watercolor pencils, French Blue grosgrain ribbon, Scor-Tape, stampin' dimensionals.

Friends and Food

Good day!  It's time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge with a theme of Food for Thought.  I opted for this delightful lemon from a set called Pucker Up!  I think it is one of my favorite images to color.  I stamped and cut out an extra blossom to balance my sketch.  I also stamped and embossed the plaid from Kilt Fun as my background.  I'm not sure why I haven't used the plaid background more, but I sure love it here!  I combined my card with a couple of challenges from this weekend and last week too.  I played along with the mini VSN at Splitcoaststampers, as well as Dare To Get Dirty.  Let me tell you, my craft room is trashed.  I haven't cleaned up a stitch as I have been trying to create projects and keep up with the garden.  Housecleaning has sunk to a new low!

I did make and can some applesauce this morning.  Now I have to tend to watering and weeding and a tired and cranky 7 year old.  I see a nap in her future.

Thanks for stopping by!

Favorites, An Honor

Good Sunday morning!  You know it's been a great stamping weekend when your peers select three of you five VSN cards to end up in the Favorites thread on Splitcoaststampers.  Woohoo!  I'm feeling especially honored as one of my cards made it into both the General Favorites and the CAS Favorites!  Don't hesitate to do some stamping this long weekend.  Even though the VSN challenges went live Friday night, you can play and upload until Monday10PM EST.  That's lot of time left!  This card is the first one I made Friday night for Lisa's Hot Beverage challenge.  Even though these look like teacups, you will have to imagine them filled with coffee as that's my hot beverage of choice.
My card is a pretty simple card and I used the first CAS(E) this Sketch! blog sketch.  Wow, the sketches put out by this team have been really amazing.  So glad I found the blog.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm off to check out challenges for today and get some more crafting in before hubby returns from camping!

Comfy and Cozy VSN

I just love VSN!  It's a great opportunity for me to explore my stamp stash and just create with whatever strikes my fancy!  This card is the one I created for the kick off challenge of the mini VSN.  Misti challenged crafters to create a card based on a cute photo of a stack of fabrics!  I drew my colors, textures and images from the fabrics.  It was a hoot!  I felt like my card needed a bit more softening and sparkle, so I rounded my corners and added some rhinestones.  I have recently discover the CAS(E) this Sketch! blog, so I used the most current sketch for this card.

Here's a look at the original sketch.  I have my second scallop in there, it's just a bit obscured by my mitten strings!  Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend.  The sun is shining here and I have just a bit of work to do outside before I'm free to get my craft on!
Details - Stamps: Warm Winter Wishes (Flourishes); Paper:  Sweet Tooth White, Pool Party, Pretty in Pink; Ink: Tuxedo Black, Pool Party; Accessories: Copic Markers, 1/2" circle punch, Copic multiliner, Stripes ef, corner chomper, Recollections rhinestones, paper snips, dimensional adhesive.

Friends and Tags

Good Monday morning!  It's a foggy day here at my house.  This morning I am sharing my card for the Friends of Speedy TV challenge to use tags or tickets on your project.  It's challenge number 39.  I opted for tags on mine and stamped up those babies!  I used the basket weave image from Background Fun and then stamped a poppy image and sentiment from Welcome Poppies.  I colored in my poppies and then sponged the edges of my tags.  Finally I threaded a little burlap twine through each tag and called it good.

I incorporated one of my Mark's Finest Papers teammates VSN challenges into this card too.  Angie, challenged crafters to use red in their project.   I just had to oblige with some red poppies.

Don't forget that Mark's Finest Papers offers up a prize to one random participant for this challenge.  This week the stamp set being offered is called Island Life.  You can see an image of it below.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Good Advice

I'm posting this today as it is dark and gloomy outside and I need a bit of cheer.  This week I have had a big infusion of new product and new to me product.  My craft room is overflowing at this point.  I am feeling the urge to go and get organized and then do some serious creating.  So quickly, I'll give you the run-down on this card.  I made it for a VSN challenge called 3-D flowers where I had to create my own flower.  I punched  a circle out of the same yellow paper I stamped my sentiment on and then topped it with a clear adhesive circle from my build-a-brad kit.  I place my circle atop of two die cut daisies.  I used a fabulous CPS Sketch to kick my card off.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Details - Stamps: Words of Wisdom (Verve); Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, BG Lime Rickey dp; Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black ; Accessories: Sissix Daisy #2 die, 1/2" circle punch, build a brad kit, stampin' dimensionals.

Tulip Time

Tulip Time is just around the corner here in the Skagit Valley.  Just last week, the Kiwanis members delivered tulips to the front office at school as part of their annual fundraiser.  This card came about via one of the mini VSN challenge from last weekend, called Tulip Tones.  Heather challenged crafters to make a card using a floral image, bright green and your favorite tulip color.  My favorite tulips are the Negritas.  They are a luscious deep purple, accomplished here with some Rich Razzleberry ink!

I also used a CPS sketch to get the job done here!  I really love how this card turned out.  I hope every one had a wonderful weekend and those that have a day off tomorrow really take advantage of it!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Inside of Monday

Happy Monday Peeps!  It's time for another Friends of Speedy TV challenge and today is all about decorating the inside of your card.  Whoa, this is something I rarely do.  But before I go ahead and share the inside, I wanted to give a shout out to my fellow MFP designer, Kathy Bradley, who is the Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers this week.  Woohoo, go Kathy!  I cased one of Kathy's MFP beauties for the challenge.  With that said, I can go back to my card now.  Since I rarely decorate the inside of my cards, I decided to do a little repetition of the Winter Crocus and the patterned paper.  Since the set has other great sentiments, I added another one.
This is what I came up with.  What do you think?  I like the end result.
I popped my crocus off the front of the card in order to submit it for one of the VSN mini challenges this weekend too.  Tracy called for popped up flowers in her Poppin' Posies challenge

Hey, thanks for stopping by and I hope your Monday eases you gently into the week!
